Why International?

We excel in educating girls and boys aged 8-17 from all over the world, providing a vital first step towards a successful British education.

Founded in 1977 by Sherborne School, we provide a world-renowned, outstanding academic, linguistic and cultural experience for international students.

Our expertise and in-depth understanding of international students, coupled with very small class sizes (usually around 8 students), provide each child with a high-quality personalised learning experience.

www.sherborne-international.org/about-us About Sherborne

Sherborne is a small, safe and historic town located in , in the south-west of England. Surrounded by the beautiful English countryside, we enjoy plenty of fresh air and good weather.

The town is well connected: London is only two hours away by direct train or car and other historic cities like Bath and Exeter are only an hour away. We make all the arrangements to collect students from Heathrow, Gatwick or Bristol airports and transfer them safely to our School.

Sherborne is renowned for its schools in the same way that Oxford and Cambridge are for their universities. The town boasts four top independent schools; Sherborne International and Sherborne School are part of the same organisation and we also work with Sherborne Girls and Sherborne Preparatory School.

Sherborne has a number of historic buildings including the beautiful Abbey, founded in the year 705, where some of our students perform in concerts.

www.sherborne-international.org/about-sherborne Academic Life

Our courses follow the UK National Curriculum and focus on improving English and knowledge of subjects.

Students join us from many different educational systems at various ages and with differing levels of academic experience.

Our aim is to provide an exceptional introduction to the UK education system and ensure each student achieves the highest level of academic achievement according to their ability.

In addition to IGCSE / GCSEs, students are prepared for a range of Cambridge English exams as well as IELTS.

Our teachers are qualified or trained to teach English, as well as their individual specialist subject. Coupled with very small class sizes, this allows students to receive expert individual attention.

www.sherborne-international.org/our-courses Boarding and Activities

We have one of the best staff to student ratios in the world. This allows us to care for the needs and welfare of each student in a safe, family environment.

Girls and boys live in separate boarding houses with most students having a single or double bedroom, some with en-suite facilities. We always aim to ensure that students sharing a room speak a different language.

Outside of study time, many activities are available including numerous sports, Duke of Edinburgh Award, music lessons, drama and public speaking.

Weekend excursions include outings to local historic sites, cinema or bowling, or trips to interesting local places such as Bath or Exeter.

www.sherborne-international.org/school-life Sport, Music and Culture

As part of Sherborne School, we have access to fantastic sporting facilities including a fully equipped gym, multi-purpose hall, dance studio and swimming pool.

Students can take part and be coached in a range of sports including football, netball, badminton, basketball, cricket, tennis, swimming, volleyball and athletics. They can also take part in competitive matches.

Students can also participate in music lessons and join the School Choir. They also have the opportunity to join one of two orchestras and take part in many drama productions.

www.sherborne-international.org/school-life Food and Nutrition

We have our own team of chefs who prepare three nutritious, well-balanced meals each day using fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. They can cater for special religious or dietary requirements.

As well as a daily cooked breakfast, students are given the choice of three hot dishes (one vegetarian), plus a tempting salad bar for lunch and dinner.

Homemade desserts and fresh fruit are also served daily, with the addition of homemade cakes in the evening and for afternoon tea.

Our chefs have experience of preparing cuisine from many different countries and are therefore open to suggestions and menu ideas from the students.
