There are two ways to separate the gas chamber from oil chamber. One is with bladder. The other is free piston which is composed of metal and O-ring rubber. Both bladder and free piston have advantage and disadvantage. However by combining the bladder’s advantage and the free piston’s SKF free piston provides low friction to minimize the oil leakage into the gas chamber. While the stroke of the rod is small the center rubber of the piston absorbs the oil pressure produced by volume of the rod. While the rod strokes largely the whole floating piston moves to absorb the pressure. The floating piston has one piece structure which consists of metal and the SKF’s low friction rubber.
