THERE AND BACK AGAIN: When Chancellor Dugan came to Bellarmine in 2012, her ar- rival signaled a return to Division II for the Knights’ coach. Now, she’s returned to Division I without ever having left the program. Further adding to the “full circle” effect, Dugan has re-entered the ASUN Conference after previously being the head coach of former league member Florida Atlantic for 13 seasons, a program she guided to the 2005-06 ASUN championship and subsequent appearance in the NCAA Tournament. NEW ASSISTANTS WHO WERE STARS: Crystal Kelly, who rejoined Bellarmine’s coach- ing staff this season, and Abby Owings, who is brand new to the Knights’ staff, were both heavily decorated college players. Kelly was a three-time All-American at Western Kentucky University who had her No. 42 retired. Heading into this season, she remained WKU’s all-time leader in points (2,803), scoring average (21.6), rebounds (1,258), field goals made (953), field-goal percentage (61.7) and free throws made (885). Owings was a three-time All-American at DIII Thomas More University and was named to the D3hoops. com All-Decade Team. Going into this season, Owings ranked second on Thomas More’s career scoring list (1,789 points), third in assists (434) and first in 3-pointers made (264).

SWEET 16: Before entering Division I, Bellarmine made 16 appearances in the NCAA II Tournament, starting with a 1986 campaign that concluded in the Elite Eight.
