TRIBUTES have been paid to a first responder who served the communities of Cwm Taf for more than a decade.

Neal Jones (pictured) was a volunteer lifesaver not just for the village of , but for the , Abercwmboi, Mountain Ash and communities too.

The father-of-two, the longest serving lay CFR Trainer, was instrumental in the recruitment and training of hundreds of CFRs across South East .

He was also a tireless fundraiser who helped to secure thousands of pounds over the years for CFR teams.

In 2016, Neal was a finalist in the Dr Jennifer Bucknell Award which recognised him for his outstanding commitment to serving his community.

Tony Rossetti, Regional First Responder Officer, said: “Neal possessed an incredible commitment which made him stand out, and was highly respected by everyone in the CFR department.

“Throughout this time, his commitment to helping went above and beyond the call of duty. He was never shy of offering a helping hand at any time.

“He provided hope for many patients and families. His dedication and enthusiasm to improving the lives of patients was commendable.

“I personally regarded Neal as a very close friend and one of the most hard-working, dedicated, enthusiastic and committed people I have ever met.

“It was a privilege to have known him and my thoughts are with his wife Sandy, his two children Michael and Bethan, and all his family at this difficult time.”
