Dr. C N Ashwathnarayan Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka Dr. C. N. Ashwathnarayan is an Indian politician and the 10th Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and the current Minister of Higher Education, Information Technology & Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood in the Government of Karnataka. He is a Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing BJP from Malleshwaram constituency, Bangalore, Karnataka. Ashwathnarayan completed his MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. A multifaceted personality and a rm believer of technology, Ashwathnarayan is an educationist, healthcare entrepreneur and philanthropist.
Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel Member of Parliament, Govt. of India Mr. Nalin moved up the ranks of BJP by rst nding success as the District General Secretary of the party in the year 2004 and is now the President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Karnataka and Elected Member of Parliament of 17th Lok Sabha from Dakshina Kannada constituency. He's also an Agriculturist and Civil contractor by profession. He has defeated former Union Minister Mr. Janardhan Poojary in his bid to win the seat in Dakshin Kannada constituency for two times consecutively. He was a full- edged member of RSS for a period of 12 years. He was ingratiated into the Hindu Nationalist group when he was 18.
Dr. Bharath Shetty Y MLA - Mangalore City North He has been an exceptional young leader with long term vision, being involved in social, educational and regional activities and has been actively interacting with common people to understand their problems and nd ways to alleviate them. Bharath Shetty completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Dentistry from A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru. He has been actively working for the past several years having maintained good relationship with all party workers and common people.
Mr. Harikrishna Bantwal Chairman - KEONICS He is the Dakshina Kannada BJP Vice President and he has been appointed by the State Government as the Chairman of Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (KEONICS). Mr. Harikrishna is also an Agriculturist and a Businessman by profession. Mr. Harikrishna has had a long political journey which began as an RSS activist in the year 1972 at the young age of 21. In the same year, he also became a head Shikshak of RSS Bantwal Unit and then Bhoudik Pramukh in 1974. In the year 1980, he also served as the General Secretary of Dakshina Kannada BJP.

Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics Intelligence was inaugurated by Dr. C N Ashwathnarayan, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka & Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Govt. of India. This CoE is to foster benchmark framework for Network and System forensics for the benet of the Modern Societies, Capacity Building to Law Enforcement Agencies, Legal Practitioners including Judges, Faculty Fraternity & Students of Higher Learning and Offer Courses on Cyber Security with Interactive portal through CoE.

Centre of Excellence in Articial Intelligence and Machine Learning was inaugurated by Dr. Bharath Shetty Y., MLA, Mangalore City North. This CoE is to foster Ground breaking Research, to develop solutions that address societal problems and to become an Articial Intelligence Competency Centre that provides a platform for collaboration between Industry and Academia. It would also help to impart AI based high-quality training for the students and faculty members involved in UG, PG and Doctoral programs and engage them in Design Thinking.

New premise of NAIN, K-Tech Centre was inaugurated by Shri Harikrishna Bantwal, Chairman, KEONICS inaugurated. New Age Innovation Network (NAIN) by the Department of Electronics, IT, BT, S&T, Govt. of Karnataka. Through this center a total of 21 Projects have been funded a total Amount of Rs.54 Lakhs. This has resulted in the formation of 10 LLPS out of which three LLP’s have received a total grant of Rs. 85Lakhs for scaling up. In addition to this several student ideas that are mentored through this centre have won various State & National awards.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan C N inaugurated “Centre of Excellence in Robotic Welding. This CoE is jointly funded by KCTU, Govt. of Karnataka and Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management. This CoE has high-end welding Robotic Machines of TIG and MIG it accessories. The objective of establishing welding Centre of Excellence is to facilitate the local industrial needs in terms of precision manufacturing and training the manpower.

Research Design Lab continues to maintain product excellence and performance by introducing innovative cost-effective solutions to cater to the needs of industry. Their clients include Honda, Erickson, Toyota and the likes. Students who dream to innovate and excel in the eld of Electronics and Engineering will get access to this industry to get an industry exposure and work on real time projects.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan C N inaugurated Industry Hub” at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Industry Hub - Technical Career Education (TCE). In line with the guidelines laid by All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE and Visvesvaraya Technological University's step towards setting up Industry Hub in every college to facilitate industry readiness and to nurture skills that are essential for industries, Technical Career Education was established to partner with technical institutions and Industries, thereby serving as an enabler and facilitator for benets of all. For this to be successful, Technical Career Education Pvt Ltd. (TCE) has signed MOU with multiple Industries to build a curriculum that aligns with industry standards and also to provide industry experts to enhance the technical skills of the students. The industries chosen are from technologies such as AI & ML, AR/VR/MR, IoT, Robotics, Data Science, RPA, and the likes that are going to create more jobs in the future. TCE focuses on setting up the Centre of Excellence in partnership with colleges that help in giving hands-on training on industrial concepts to the students thereby making them competent enough to be deployable in industries.

There is NO second thought that Educational Institutions are a Temple of Learning. So, when we show respect, loyalty, discipline, dedication and commitment towards it, that institution grows undoubtedly, but we too grow personally and see holistic development in us. Everyone lives their life but we should add meaning to our life and to accomplish this, we need good educational institutions in the society. If our society should grow to greater heights in all spheres, there is no other means but through educational institutions who are the supporting pillars for the society's overall development. Hence, Education gives solution to all possible problems and brings our hidden talents in front. Keeping this in mind, we establish educational institutions for students to pursue their studies. In general, Educational Institutions are established with Not-For-Prot motive. Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru may have been established by Mr. Manjunath Bhandary under Bhandary Foundation; however he does not get the ownership. Hence Deputy CM, appreciated the efforts of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary for establishing this institution and urged the society to join hands and build it together. He acknowledged the challenges that one faces in order to start an educational institution. Having said that, overcoming all odds and challenges, you have worked hard and built this institution so rstly, I appreciate Mr. Manjunath Bhandary and his spouse Mrs. Prasanna Bhandary. Most of the stakeholders . Government, Students, Universities that gives afliation, look at the institutions as a commercial centre. What difference does this institution make to the society is more important. We build these institutions using student fees only along with the initially contributed land and funds. It's not enough to grow an institution only through fees to a premier level in terms of quality. He acknowledged Mr. Pradeep Shetty for lending the land for Sahyadri. An educational institution is mandatorily run through Trust; Society or Section 8 Company hence they cannot run it for prot. There is accountability. Income Tax scrutinizes them every year. Many Statutory agencies scrutinize the operations of the institution. In this set up, Alumni should also contribute to their respective alma mater in a small or big way if they believe that this institution is going to make a difference to many students just like it made a difference in your life. That is the only way forward if you want to transform the society. It is my responsibility to Congratulate the efforts of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary of Sahyadri and the people who helped in building this institution.
16 It always seen that when there is a good point put across in the parliament, there is always an opinion that the funds will be misused. There is accountability for everyone. When we do not enforce, only then they do it in their own way. We extend our wholehearted support to Sahyadri whether Visvesvaraya Technological University or from the State Govt. With a good intension VTU has been introduced. There is lot of improvement. We may have not transformed to the level of expectation, we have to, however we are still striving towards the quality in terms of syllabus, or regulations. We are completely revising syllabus just like you are giving internship inside the college. Students should be getting opportunities and be industry ready. Sahyadri has amazing Centres of Excellence on all emerging areas like Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, IoT; Industrial Hubs, Companies established and Start Ups and all other activities. He appreciated how all this has already been incorporated. Most of the engineering colleges are way behind from what Sahyadri has set- up. In this direction, we have to do a lot. In this process, we are bringing lot of improvements in VTU and bringing lot of changes by integrating internship. NEP is to be implemented in YR 2021. Engineering colleges are currently facing challenges but will be better positioned to take best advantage, adapt and integrate and promote NEP. Engineering colleges will do extremely well because of the multi-disciplinary programme, integration of various major and minor subjects, probably lot of combinations can be offered. They can do extremely well in the days to come. There will not be even a single vacant seat in Engineering Colleges. Only thing is, some of the Engineering colleges are not managed properly. Probably GER (Gross Enrollment Ratio) in Karnataka is 28%, Tamil Nadu is 50%, Neighboring states range in 35%, 36% 33%. We are also targeting to reach 50% GER. Through NEP and VTU, we should bring developments and we are looking at giving Equity funds worth Rs. 50 Crores for startups this year from VTU. Let's bring improvements in quality together. Under the leadership of Mr. Hariskrishna Bantwal, Mangalore Innovation will be a reality and support would be extended from the State Government. Karnataka is leading from front in terms of Technology and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He gave the 5 years projection of revenue through Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Technology is integrated in various elds, Agriculture is completely in digital form, Transportation, Logistics, Learning Institutes. Each and every vertical will be a big industry. We look forward to a better future in every sector. Don't worry about future, but make efforts, skill up or upgrade yourself. Employee or employer, job creator or job seeker whatever it might be, you need to be happy and enjoy whatever you are doing. Do anything but “Pursuit of Excellence” should be the only slogan lifelong. When you do anything with self-motivation in pursuit of excellence and programme your mind and body to this, natural forces will encourage us to achieve what we want. This is 99% true as it has become true in his life. Karnataka has lot of potential, as Product Design for most of the countries happens in Karnataka. Every year 8 lakhs jobs are created (Formal Jobs) in Karnataka which are registered under Provident Fund and the Graduates put together is only 5 lakhs every year. He concluded his speech recognizing the efforts of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary for the whole set- up of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. 17

Mr. Harikrishna Bantwal, Chairman of KEONICS. In his address Mr. Harikrishna Bantwal, Chairman of KEONICS appreciated Mr. Manjunath Bhandary's hard work and dedication in making Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, a top institution of this region within a short span of time. He referred to Swami Vivekananda’s preaching and said that one should leave a mark behind and Sahyadri College is one such achievement. He also mentioned that there are many ministers he has come across, however Dr. Ashwathnarayan has shown what a true minister is. He concluded his talk by saying that ‘Self-Belief’ is ultimate and will take you to greater heights.
