Bartolo Colon has tossed six or more innings and allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last 12 starts, which is tied for the second longest such streak in Oakland history…is 9-1 with a 1.79 ERA (17 er in 85.1 ip) during this 12-game stretch. Josh Donaldson (2 for 5, r, hr, 3 rbi, so) recorded his second “walk-off” rbi hit of the season…is batting .333 (20 for 60) with 12 runs, three doubles, six home runs, 15 RBI, eight walks and six multiple hit games over his last 17 games. Josh Reddick (0 for 4, 4 so) recorded a career-high tying four strikeouts…had his streak of reaching base safely in 19 consecutive games via hit or walk snapped…was 17 for 65 (.265) with seven walks during the streak, which was the longest by an Athletic over the last two years. Brandon Workman allowed two runs on just two hits in 6.1 innings pitched…is the first Red Sox pitcher to allow three or fewer base runners in his first Major League start since George Hockette allowed three on Sept. 17, 1934 (at St. Louis Browns). Jacoby Ellsbury (3 for 5, r) snapped his 0 for 10 hitless streak with a leadoff single in the first inning…has hit safely in 34 of 39 games and is 64 for 169 (.379) with 14 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 17 RBI and 13 walks over that span.
