Cwmni’r Frân Wen SEPTEMBER 2015 AN Original, powerful and surreal PRODUCTION

“People say don’t they - those walkers type - they say they love the remoteness of mountains and places like that. That’s a safe kind of loneliness that is, a loneliness you can get back from. Half of them would lose it if they were in a room full of people and, all of a sudden, they’d feel like they were on the summit of the highest mountain. Drych - Llyr Titus

Have you ever felt lost? Like life’s on loop? Forever repeating itself? Have you ever asked yourself who you really are?

Drych (mirror) is a powerful new Welsh language play about two people on a barren wasteland, chatting diligently about the wonders and complexity of life. They talk about the things that they carry inside themselves - and of mirrors, flowers and .

From the darkest questions about man’s existence, to moments of laughter and humour - through Drych we get an intense and humorous reflection of their desperate journey to understand more about their existence.

A superb drama that will stay long in the memory. I love its frugality as the madness jumps from one character to the other.”

Who is Llyr Titus?

In May 2013 Cwmni’r Frân Wen launched a new programme that would, under the guidance of renowned playwright Aled Jones Williams, identify and develop 5 new Welsh language authors. One of those selected was Llyr Titus - a young script writer from Sarn, Pwllheli who had previously won the“ Drama Medal in the 2012 Eryri Eisteddfod yr Urdd.

O Sgript i Lwyfan (from script to stage) gave the authors the opportunity to work with Cwmni’r Frân Wen to develop new work under the direction of Aled Jones Williams, experienced directors and actors. The outcome of the project was a reading of the work by professional actors at Galeri Caernarfon.

The reaction to Llyr’s writing was astounding - engrossed and enthralled, the audience left wanting to hear more from this naturally gifted and skilled playwright.

Following the feedback to the public readings, Cwmni’r Frân Wen commissioned Llyr to script a stage play that Cwmni’r Frân Wen would tour Welsh theatres in September 2015. SEPTEMBER 2015 MORE ABOUT CWMNI’R FRÂN WEN
