Sponsored by the Freshman Intramural Program, so Yard Trophy points will be awarded to Yards who manage to capture the other team’s flag. Recently, dorm participants battled it out for IM points and bragging rights by running and playing soccer and basketball. Academic Event Tuesday, October 28, 7PM – “The Symmetry and Simplicity of the Laws of Physics and the Higgs Boson.” The Neekeyfar Lecture Series on Science and Mathematics for Undergraduates brings leading scientists from around the country to Harvard each year to speak to undergraduates about their cutting- edge research. Past speakers have included Brian Greene and Eric Lander, to name a few. This year, please join the Harvard Student Advisory Board for Science to welcome Juan Maldacena, a theoretical astrophysicist, who will join us from Princeton University. Professor Maldacena's work focuses on quantum gravity, string theory, and quantum field theory. He has proposed a relationship between quantum gravity and quantum field theories that elucidates various aspects of both theories. He is studying this relationship further in order to understand the deep connection between black holes and quantum field theories, and he is also exploring the connection between string theory and cosmology.
