Anne Kennedy is an award-winning poet, novelist and screenwriter. Her sequence Sing-song (AUP, 2003) was named Poetry Book of the Year at the 2004 Montana New Zealand Book Awards, and its successor The Time of the Giants (AUP, 2005) was shortlisted for the same award. Anne will read from and discuss her recent creative work, followed by a brief Q&A session.

Lynn Davidson is the author of three collections of poetry, How to live by the sea, Tender and Mary Shelley’s Window, and a novel, Ghost Net. Her poetry and short stories have appeared in Sport, Landfall, Turbine and The Red Wheelbarrow. She has a poem in the new edition of the poetry anthology Big Weather: Poems of Wellington, and in Great Sporting Moments: The Best of Sport magazine. In 2003 she was awarded the Writer’s Bursary. She has a poem in The Best of Best New Zealand Poems. Lynn will read from and discuss Tender and How to live by the sea, and her up-coming collection, Common Land.

BRIAN TURNER is a distinguished New Zealand writer and a member of one of this country’s most famous sporting families. Turner is a former New Zealand respresentative hockey player and has published best-selling sports biographies. He has won awards for his sports writing. He was the Te Mata Estate NZ 2003-05, was awarded the Memorial Award for Poetry in 2009 and The New Zealand Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in Poetry 2009. His most recent books are the best- selling Into the Wider World (shortlisted for the 2009 Montana Book Awards) which focuses on his love of and concerns for the future of this country’s natural environment, and Just This, winner of the NZ Post Book Award for Poetry in 2010.

Poetry Reading featuring Lynn Davidson, 2011 Massey writer- in-residence and author of a number of collections of poetry, most recently, How to Live by the Sea; Lynn Jenner, whose first collection of poetry, Dear Sweet Harry, has been described as “unlike anything else in ”; and Selina Tusitala Marsh, winner of the 2010 NZSA Jessie Mackay Award for Best First Book of Poetry for her collection, Fast Talking PI.

Lloyd Jones has published essays and children’s books, but his best known works include the novels The Book of Fame, winner of numerous literary awards; Biografi, a New York Times Notable Book; Choo Woo; Here at the End of the World We Learn to Dance; Paint Your Wife; and the phenomenally successful Mister Pip, winner of the 2007 Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, the Montana Medal for Fiction and the Kiriyama Writers’ Prize, and shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. His latest novel is Hand Me Down World (Penguin, 2011). He lives in Wellington.

Ian Wedde is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated poets, novelists and cultural critics. He won the 2001 Montana Award for Illustrative Arts for Ralph Hotere: Black Light; the 2005 Meridian Energy Katherine Mansfield Memorial Fellowship in Menton, France; and a 2006 Arts Foundation of New Zealand Laureate Award. He was also the 2009 Writer in Residence at The . Ian will read from and discuss his recent creative work, followed by a brief Q&A session. Light refreshments will be provided by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Massey University.

Kate De Goldi has written novels, short fiction and picture books for all ages. Her most recent novel The Ten PM Question was NZ Post Book of the Year, 2009, and Readers’ Choice in the 2009 Montana Book Awards. Kate discusses children’s books fortnightly on National Radio’s Saturday programme with broadcaster Kim Hill and reviews books regularly on TVNZ’s Good Morning show. In 2010 Kate was awarded the Creative NZ Fellowship to research a book on children’s literature bibliophile, Susan Price. She is currently working on a new novel. Kate will read from and discuss her recent creative work followed by a Q&A session.
