July News from the Mayor for July 2018

Another summer is upon us and with that brings the busiest time of year for our outside staff. We have accumulated many properties that need grass cutting and depending on how much rain we get, this can be near impossible to keep up but we have received a grant to hire a summer student and hopefully we can get caught up with the grass maintenance. The guys are also making their rounds to fill in pot holes and there is no shortage of those either. Once the guys get that completed we can do more street sweeping and tree trimming as well. In be- tween those jobs we get some high winds that add more clean up to the list of duties, but a bit of a dry spell will help out immensely to get everything caught up.

With summer we also see the campers get brought out to the street from storage to be cleaned and stocked for the summer. If you bring your holiday trailer out onto the street, please be courteous to your neighbors and fellow citizens by not putting out your slides as it makes it dangerous for passing vehicles due to poor visibility, lack of space to pass by especially with oncoming traffic and remem- ber there is a limit to how long you can be parked on the street with your camp- er. Double check the time limit with the town office by phoning 834-2361. If you have people staying in the camper, we do have camp sites in town that should be utilized for this purpose. Thank you again to Enbridge with such a big donation of $ 75000 to the Swim- ming Pool, Pioneers Haven and the Handi-Bus. The money has helped out in such a big way and is so greatly appreciated.

Due to some unforeseen water line breaks our budget got a little tighter, so things such as spraying for mosquitoes may not happen throughout the entire town as we wanted to do. We will still try to do the fairgrounds and other places where we may have larger gatherings.

This will be the last newsletter under this format as we are going to be trying out a weekly letter known as the Chronicle. This will allow us to get information out more rapidly. We will try a one year contract and see how it goes. We will have a Town Hall meeting on September 12. We will have a supper beforehand so keep watch for tickets to become available at the Town office.

On behalf of Council, Staff and myself, have a fun and safe summer !

Mayor Wayne Mock

Important: Visible House Numbers

It is very important for you to have your house numbers visible on your homes and businesses! In order for emergency personnel as well as town employees to locate your residence or business, the house number must be highly visible.

If you are unable to put your house number on the outside of the building, please consider placing it in a front window so that it is easy to see.

Watering Restrictions in Effect:

Please limit watering of lawns etc. to the following schedule: Houses with ODD numbers: Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 7 pm to 8 am Houses with EVEN numbers: Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday from 7 pm to 8 am

Bobbi Hebron—After some deep digging in the old basement files, I was able to find, what I believe is the first newsletter. And if you can believe it was writ- ten 30 years ago this month—June 1988. In the following pages, please find two pages from the first newsletter as well as three pages from the June 1998 news- letter. They are certainly a treasure of information!

Its been a pleasure providing the newsletter to the Town of Kerrobert residents for the last three years. I would like to dedicate this last one to Doug Flahr, a Recreation Director for many years in our community. I always thought he had one of the best jobs in this Town because he got to be at the pool every day, and as a kid, I somehow thought he got to swim there every night as well.

I am looking forward to enjoying the Chronicle and all it has to offer our community!
