Stephen Sondheim is universally acclaimed as the most important composer working today in musical theatre. celebrates his 85th birthday with a Gala Concert of his best known songs together with some of his lesser known ones performed by a stellar cast of over 50 principals, a 40 piece orchestra and an ensemble of more than 50.

It also nurtures and supports new musical theatre talent and hosts educational seminars, workshops and masterclasses aimed, but not exclusively, at young talent. It stages an annual Student Performer of the Year competition and maintains the Stephen Sondheim Society Archive at Kingston University.
