POSITION SUMMARY This position will assist the Director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau in the overall manage- ment and supervision of comprehensive sales and marketing programs for the maintenance and expansion of the City's national meeting/convention and participatory sports markets in order to increase convention and visitor expenditures, tax revenues and employment. Strate- gically lead team(s) of tourism professionals to develop appropriate budgets and achieve sales goals related to each targeted market segment.

Responsibilities for this high-profile position include advertising, trade show planning, budg- eting, convention services, housing, FAM trips, site visits, etc. This position acts as liaison with Meeting & Convention/Sports Marketing related businesses and organizations to enhance com- munications, etc.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will offer a robust knowledge of the and its terminology; a proven understanding of tourist desti- nation marketing organizations, all meeting/convention market segments, convention centers, , sports facilities, andother hospi- tality-related venues. Other preferred qualifications include a degree in marketing, tourism, business administration, management, or related field; leadership experience in Meeting & Convention/Sports Marketing with a destination marketing organization; demonstrated record of sales success; extremely strong presentation skills; experience effectively managing all components of an advertising and mar- keting budget, including working with ad agencies; skill with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Graphics, Power Point, Outlook); and an understanding of the relationship between technology and sales organizations.

At minimum, candidates must have any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to ten (10) years in fields related to the meeting/convention, , and/or group leisure tourism industry, which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. This is an Alpha I position requiring employee to work during inclement weather, regardless of the City's operational status.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE The salary range is $72,426.72—$108,640.08. This position also participates in a sales incentive bonus program.
