This past year we added four new teachers to our staff. We'd like to say welcome to Mr. Caldwell, Ms. Evans, Mr. Rhinehart and Mr. Wohle.

Another new comer who we appreciated was MaryAnn Hammond. MaryAnn being out of high school only two years herself loved us so much she just had to come back. Well, you know what they say- "They'll always come back for more".

The students became a little upset this year since the roof kept leaking on them. One particular student must've told Mr. Porter (Peter) to take a hike. Mr. Porter, they didn't mean it literally.

Finally they tore off the old roof and began fixing it with all kinds of yucky, smelly junk. Several girls still haven't washed all the tar out of their hair.

Exciting events that have taken place here in Buckaroo Country were the first tournaments for varsity and varsity wrestling.

Maybe Mr. Winans Buckaroomania is working after all.

The Buckaroo Chefs for the 1977-78 school year were herded under Alice Dolan. Her compadres and fellow CUSTODIANS workers were Marge Spero and Mary Ann Echevarria. They came up with some new and ingenious ways to fix grits this year, even if they often had peas two or three C times a week and got a little flamboyant with the chili powder. The food from Alice's Restaurant will live long O in the minds of the outgoing seniors, teachers, and dropouts, while you underclassmen still have at least one year left to taste the scrumptious delicacies put out U by the Lowry High Gourmet Kitchenettes. The pictures may be small, but their brooms and vacuums aren't. Just think what life without them would be. Who would show last year's junior class how to wash the windows after the prom, make all the chalk-, black-, and floor-boards clean, and who else would get called over the intercom at least five times a week? Frist place skit went to the Football Team, which, by the way, was the first time they'd ever put on a skit. Second place was captured by Art Club, with their "Conehead" skit, and the Seniors took third, after getting second place in the class float contest. The Juniors outsmarted the Seniors for first prize in the float contest, while the Sophomores got third. The worst part of the night was the bad jokes (there weren't any good jokes!) by Master of Ceremonies, Joe Buchan. The obvious highlight of the evening was the crowning of Homecoming Queen, Mimi Richards, by the 1976 Queen, Tama Hay. The attendants were Jeri Schwartz and Julie Tipton.

4MP Poor Mr. Porter went through another migraine headache when Mrs. Rorex told him that there was going to be another "Almost Everything Goes" this year. Of course, last year, the event couldn't be held as Mrs. Rorex was adding another branch to her family tree. The Art Club organized and worked and put on one heck of a show There were events of "Wall Of Water" "Disco Frogs" "Ring Around the Collar" and a very interesting Marathan, as pictured above. 1st place trophy went to the Seniors "Champagne Edition." 2nd place went to the Junior "Hi-Lows" and 3rd place honors went to the Juvenile Dept. "Juvy Jets". Fifteen teams were involved in the successful event. Well Mr, Porter, was it worth the headache? Ready for A.E.G. -V.\ FEMALE CAGERS UPEND OLD-TIMERS IN MONE YMA KING EXHIBITION!

The Class of '79 blends into the Lowry scene as a casual crew. Their main goal for the year was to raise enough money to give their Seniors a prom. They were the proud winners of a = 1 float during the Football Homecoming festivities. The advisors of the Junior Class are Mrs. Brown and new advisor, Mr. Dwyer.

First semester officers: Peter Larragueta, Pres.; Lance Lopes, Vice-Pres.; Yvette Lighthouse, Student- Body Rep.; Adam Barrenechea, Treas.; and Jamie Lowe, Sec.

Gee, another crop of freshmen. They come up to Albert M. Lowry beginners again, after being at the top in Junior High. On the outside they didn't seem to be fazed, but who can ever tell what a freshman is really feeling? You do have to give them credit, though. They had one of the best Football Homecoming skits ever to be put on by a freshmen class, even though their float did appear to be a twin of last year's freshmen float, but one out of two isn't bad, considering that they ARE freshmen. Their class advisors are Mrs. Findley and Mr. Rhinehart (two math teachers—I bet their class FUNCTIONS are PROOF of the FACT that GIVEN any other SET of students, they would GREATLY enjoy only a FINITE SEGMENT of them, but SINES indicate they EQUALLY like an INFINITE NUMBER of the Freshmen) and they are doing a good job with the unexperienced Second semester officers: Bob Ugalde, Pres.; Pat Richards, Vice-pres.; Adam frosh. To sum things up, the Class of 1981 Barrenechea, Treas.: Yvette Lighthouse, Student-Body Rep.; and Nancy had some original ideas and some not so Marcuerquiaga, Sec original ones, but they'll learn, just like all the rest of the former frosh have. And what better place to learn than at a school?

WINN EMUCCANEVADA SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF!

The Winnada was brought to you by alot of team work and some outstanding •'C^ individual accomplishments. Teresa Willis sold $780 worth of advertisements, either w by pounding the streets alone or dragging along another member of the staff. Sibyl Butcher contributed immensely by checking our layouts, pages, and spelling. How many Basque names can you spell correctly—without looking? Though individual ^ i i achievements do stand out, nothing was so important as the fact that the staff ""*^ '^^PV didn't stop trying to get pages done and ads sold and the boring, "menial" work •v done. Through missed deadlines, uncooperative imaginations, and uncertainty at I meetings, they never quit hoping that somehow, someway this book would be a little more adventurous than other yearbooks, both past and future. ym *^ J •^Sm

Entertainment for the feeble-minded.

Honor Society has been very busy this year. They began the year selling concessions during the home basketball games and later sold valentines to the Student Body on February 14th. After the induction of the new members the annual donut sale was held providing two scholarships for two of their members. They also traveled to Oregon in the spring for an adventurous tour of several different universities with the money they'd raised throughout the year.
