CURRICULUM • All students meet the requirements for and receive a Turkish High School (Lise) Diploma. • All students follow a full IBDP curriculum. • Students in grades 9 and 10 follow the Turkish National Curriculum, along with IGCSE Interna- tional Math and English first language and IBMYP.

All students in grades 11 and 12 choose 6 IB courses. Those who qualify for and choose to pursue the Full Diploma choose 3 SL and 3 HL courses; IB course studies students choose a range of SL or SL and HL courses. The two-year IB program engages students in a challenging curriculum in an interactive way. Through inquiry and investigation students develop critical thinking skills, and hone their analytical abilities. Students’ IB choices are subject to academic perfor- mance and scheduling parameters. At present, ENKA offers the following IB subjects: Turkish A , English A, English B, French B, German B, Turkish Social Studies SL, Economics, ITGS, Psychology, Global Politics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies SL, Mathematics, Math Studies, Visual Arts, Music. It should be noted that students must also fulfill all requirements for the Turkish National Diploma and therefore, in addition to studying 6 IB courses and TOK, they take additional Non-IB courses.

LANGUAGE • Bi-lingual instruction, all students study a third language from grades 5-12. • English as the primary language of instruction in High School: → 55% in English for Grades 9-10 (students also learning a third language) →75% in English for Grades 11-12 (students also learning a third language) • High School Math and Science courses are taught in English.

ASSESSMENT & RANKING • All grades in Turkish High Schools are recorded on the Turkish Ministry of Education’s 100 point scale. Students are given grades each semester and the final course grade is an average of the two semesters. GPAs are calculated by multiplying grades by the number of course hours in each course. IB classes are not weighted and are graded on the same 100 Turkish scale. An average of 85 is required to earn high honors, and it is rare for students to do so. An average of 70 is required to earn academic honors and passing grade is 50.

COCURRICULAR ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES The co-curricular program plays an important role in the educational program we provide at ENKA. Students are offered nearly 70 club and 30 a er-school activity choices, giving them a wide range of social, cultural, and sporting options.
