En el proceso, el político George Cadle Price, quien se desenvolvió dentro de los márgenes de un contexto colonial, buscó generar cambios a partir de un proyecto de nación. Se analizan los eventos alrededor de la vida de Price para visibilizar cómo se ligaron con el desarrollo de la política moderna en Belice; se retoman elementos propuestos por Bertux sobre el enfoque biográfico. Se revisa bibliografía actual y se retoma el diario de campo realizado en el 2011 por el autor. A partir de esto, se profundiza en las posturas que existían en torno a la política e identidad beliceña. Palabras claves: Belice, imperialismo, división étnica, identidad nacional, conflicto territorial, símbolos identitarios. Abstract The consolidation of Belize was accompanied by political and social instability, which contributed to the slow progress towards independence. In the process, the politician George Cadle Price, who developed within the margins of a colonial context; it sought to generate changes from a national project. The events around Price's life are analyzed to make visible how they were linked to the development of modern politics in Belize; elements proposed by Bertux on the biographical approach are taken up. -

Touching lives forever It has become a tradition that contributes to foster and enhance the UB spirit among students, faculty and staff for the semester and for many they were not disappointed when the annual convocation was opened by Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Vincent Palacio. The Dean along with his staff took the opportunity to share with students the vision and expectations of the faculty for the academic year, provided information to students with respect to the operations of the faculty as well as their expectations of students to excel within a conducive learning environment at the University of Belize. Strength in unity On September 28, 2011The Jaguar Auditorium was the venue for Faculty of Education (FEA’s) “Let’s Connect – To- gether We Are Stronger”. This was a unique opportunity for freshmen in FEA to meet their Faculty and staff on a per- sonal level. The freshmen expressed concerns over several pertinent issues affecting them thus far in their academic journey here at UB. The freshmen were also introduced to their student mentors who will assist them to settle into stu- dent-life on campus , housing accommodation, and transportation . Students also gave testimonials about their of life as UB FEA freshmen. Congrats to all the organizers! 2 “Father of the Nation” and National Hero! Right honourable George Cadle Price The Rt. Hon. George Cadle Price passed away two days before the 30 th Anniversary when Be- lize gained its independence on September 21, 2011 from the United Kingdom.
