Giro d'Italia "Short" final week – Dolomites

Our "short" final week of the 2017 Giro d'Italia will see the 100th Edition of this monumental race over the legendary Stelvio Pass and into the Dolomites. An edition with monumental climbs, the race will surely provide the excitement and the rapid changes in fortune that make the Giro such a special sporting event.

Join Go4Cycling on this tour honoring sporting history. The 1909 Giro d'Italia winner, Luigi Ganna, used his prize money to open a bicycle factory and while we can't promise you will do the same, we can guarantee memories that will last a lifetime.

Monday, May 22nd: Meeting point at Milan international airport (Malpensa) • 10 am: meeting @ Milan international airport (Malpensa). • Transfer to Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi (5 star hotel). • After the check-in we will start with the fitting of our world- class rental bikes. For those bringing their own bikes, our staff can assist with the assembly of your bike. • 3pm: Short loop ride for bike fitting. • Welcome dinner: The itinerary and program for the following days will be explained. • The next 2 nights we will spend at Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi. This luxury 5-star hotel is a prime example of Art-Nouveau architecture. The wellness facilities are both indoors and outdoors, and can be reached directly from your room. The rooms have a panoramic view of the valley or mountains. Tuesday, May 23rd: Giro stage 16 Rovetta - • After breakfast we will intercept the course near our hotel by bike and start our climb to the top of Passo delle Stelvio (2758 m). Afterwards we take a the long descent to the Venosta Valley and ride to Müstair in Switserland. From here we will drive back with the minibus to Passo delle Stelvio (this side to the top of the Stelvio is called “Passo Umbrail” (2501 m). • At our viewing spot we will watch the riders from close while the fight for pink is going on. • The Passo dello Stelvio is the highest pass in . Many consider it scenically the nicest of all the Alpine passes. • Tonight is our final night at Bormio.

Wednesday, May 24th: Giro stage 17 Tirano – Canazei (Val di Fassa) • In the morning we will drive to . From here we will intercept the race route and you can ride the final kilometers on the official course of the Giro d’Italia towards Canazei (Val di Fassa). • We can provide optional a drive experience (car in the race) for this stage! • Tonight and tomorrow we will overnight in Val Gardena.

Thursday, May 25th: Giro stage 18 Moena – Ortisei/St.Ulrich • In the morning you can ride from our hotel to Moena including 2 or 3 big climbs over 2000m (Pordoi & Gardena or Pordoi, Valparola & Gardena). The climbs make up part of the famous Sella Ronda Bike Day route held in June each year, when the roads are closed to car traffic for the benefit of cyclists. The scenery in the Dolomites offers a unique mountain experience not to be missed. • After we refresh ourselves and have VIP-access to the Puccini VIP Hospitality zone. • An expo type village is created at the start of each one of the stages. It is usually here that everyone who is linked in any way to the Giro including sponsors, media and celebrities from the cycling world will show themselves. Also local companies will be keen to show off their wares. Your VIP passes will give you access to one of the Hospitality Areas located close to the stage where the riders will sign on for the days stage. • MEET THE RIDERS IN THIS ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE! • You will receive a day pass which gives you access to your Hospitality Area with snack/coffee bar service available. After signing in for today's stage, the riders will typically head to the hospitality areas where you will have chance to get up close to them and experience the exciting pre-race atmosphere. If you are into collecting autographs, this is the best place for it! • A highlight: your VIP accreditation also gives you access to the riders' start area so you can mingle with the racers and team directors, and other people close to the inner world of pro cycling. Many people really enjoy the start village access due to the fact that you get very close to professional riders and have personal insight into the inner workings of the 2017 Giro d'Italia. • After the start we will make a short cut on the official course and ride or drive to the finish in Ortisei. The pros still need to make the loop over Passo di Pinei before they finish at Ortisei. • Tonight is our final night at Val Gardena. Friday, May 26th: Giro stage 19 San Candido/Innichen - Piancavallo • After breakfast we will transfer towards the finish of today’s stage in Piancavallo. • First we will drive to the valley of the Piave river. From here we ride the final 75km towards the finish and cross the finish line and take pictures on the podium like the pro’s. • We will arrive at the finish a little before the cyclists and will have access to the exclusive area "Dante" reserved for the top stars and located in a privileged area near the finish line. The hospitality tent will offer snack/coffee bar service and TV screens will broadcast the final kilometres of the race until the riders come into view. • After the finish we will transfer to our hotel in the Veneto region.

Saturday, May 27th: Giro stage 20 Pordenone – Asiago • We will leave in the morning by bike and intercept todays stage near our hotel in Asolo. Here will follow the official course and finish our ride at the top of the Monte Grappa (1775m). There will be again a long and shorter ride option. We will witness the ultimate fight for pink at our viewing location at the top. • Monte Grappa is part of the Grappa massif, 100 km in circumferance, which straddles the provinces of Treviso, Vicenza, and Belluno in the northeast Italy's Veneto region. It rises from the plains to a height of 1775 m • When the riders crossed the top we will transfer to Lake Garda for one night. Our hotel "Palazzo Arzaga" is an ancient palace of the 15th century harmoniously converted into a 5-star Golf & Spa Resort. Set in an estate of 144 hectares, it is located just a few minutes from Lake Garda. • Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. Numerous historic towns and villages are scattered along the shoreline. Needless to say, the natural beauty of this alpine gem and its surroundings is impeccable.

Sunday, May 28th: All too soon, our Giro concludes after breakfast. Time to pack the bags and start savouring the good times and the memories. We will assist you with your connection to the Milan international Airport (Malpensa). Then it is goodbye from Go4Cycling until the next trip! Upgrade (available in the booking form): • 1 additional day/night (departure on May 29th) which includes VIP- access (Dante) at the finish of the final stage from Monza to Milan (time trial) and the last night of our trip will be spent in the center of Milan at the Château Monfort. The Château Monfort is a five-star luxury hotel located in the heart of Milan.
