The varsity boys finished third in the state this year, only finishing behind Choctaw and Clyde Boyd Middle School (CBMS) Broken Arrow.  Science and STEM teacher, Janet Johnson was named a 2018 recipient of the prestigious Oklahoma Medal for Excellence Award from Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. This award recognizes outstanding educators in Oklahoma public schools. Janet was the Sand Springs Teacher of the Year last year and was a finalist for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.  CBMS hosted author Anna Myers who spoke about Carter Young Riley Weir her books to the entire 8th grade, then met 6A State Champion (106) 2-time Champion (113) individually with literature classes to give them tips

for writing. Students wrote about a favorite memory Angus Valley Elementary and shared their stories with the class. Mrs. Myers  Mrs. Forister coordinated a visit from former NASA autographed copies of her book, Tulsa Burning, about astronaut and retired U.S. Air Force Col. Paul the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot. Lockhart. He spoke with Angus Valley Elementary students about his space flights to the International Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) Space Station.  Ms. Amanda and Ben Brushin, from “A Better Smile,”  Annual Dill Pickles & Dodgeball event generated over visited ECEC to teach students in the Red Bear $800 to help with scholarships for 5th-grade camp! classroom all about healthy mouth hygiene.  The Pretty in Pink Daddy-Daughter Dance was a huge Northwoods Fine Arts Academy (NFAA) success (see pic below). Over 100 people were in  Northwoods has been awarded $12,149.75 in grants attendance. Families enjoyed dancing, desserts, and so far this school year. pictures at the photo booth. Warning: Cuteness  Fifth grade students wrote letters of appreciation to overload! the Sand Springs Fire Department and presented them to some guest firefighters (see below).

Garfield STEAM Academy  Garfield’s Archery team (see pic below) performed Page Alternative Academy very well at the recent state competition. The team  Page Academy is pleased to welcome new science finished 7th out of 18 teams. Lauren Gray and Avery teacher, Beau Jestice, back to the Sandite family. Miller made top 25 out of ALL Elementary girls. Jacob  Page graduated three seniors on Feb 23. English was ranked 12th out of all 4th grade boys and Alicia Kemp was 9th as a 4th grade girls. Pratt Elementary

 Pratt fifth grader, Kaylee Brenner, won the school Spelling Bee. She will represent our school at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 3rd.  Pratt third graders, along with other third graders in the district, performed at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center with the Tulsa Symphony.  Pratt Elementary students celebrated 2nd grader, Makenzie's victory over leukemia and her cancer-free status! Congratulations, Makenzie!

Indian Education  Jae Anthony-Wilson, Braden Askew, Jonathan Huff, and Clayton Wright talked with the ninth graders about the transition from 9th grade to the high school. Topics included grades, attendance, courses, clubs, organizations, and awareness of Native American heritage and culture. The seniors stressed the importance of joining an organization, such as the Native American Student Association, as a way to meet new people and become successful in high school.

Limestone Technology Academy (LTA)  Limestone hosted approximately 175 guests at the "Daddy Daughter Dance." This is an event that the ladies look forward to each year! The dance helps raise money for our 5th graders to attend camp at the end of the year. Go Sandites
