World Health Organisation has declared COVID-19 pandemic affecting more than 199 countries. Due to the inflow of persons from affected countries, and Wayanad have strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease. As of today there is one positive case and 5470 number of persons are under quarantine in the district.

As tertiary medical care facilities are not available in Government sector in the district, and it is very difficult to shift all the COVID patients to the nearest medical College/ Specialised hospitals situated in , it became necessary and inevitable to take over the only Medical College existing in Wayanad, ie, the WIMS Medical College {DM WIMS) as the tertiary Medical Centre for COVID 19 positive patients.

By exercising the powers as Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority, I do hereby order to take over the WIMS medical College(DM WIMS) under Section 34(m) of Disaster Management Act 2005

The District Medical Officer (Health) should take necessary steps for the takeover and the following service should be ensured at the treatment centre.

1. District Medical Officer and Superintendent of DM WIMS should prepare the list of Health Care Centre professionals and post them as and when required. 2. Logistics, necessary drugs and consumables should be made available.

The patients have to be treated at the centre as per the prescribed guidelines and as per the revised interim treatment guidelines issued by th , Health and family welfare department on 24 March 2020. 4. The staff should be trained in the treatment guidelines. s. All the treatment guidelines and the reference protocol should be printed and made visible in the treatment area. 6. There should be an admission register, IP register and Symptom checklist register for OP and IP cases. 7. Adequate signage should be displayed in waiting area, treatment areas and patient areas. a. A daily report should be furnish to the control centre. 9. There should be a triage area in front of OPD to conduct screening based on symptoms check list. 10. Emergency reporting should be done if any of the person admitted to the hospital found missing. 11. All the accessory facilities and Biomedical Waste Management and General Waste Management should be ensured.

DMO Health should ensure the execution of this order with immediate effect.
