Bodenheimer caught six passes in the game and now has 110 catches in his career to pass LaMont Campbell for ninth on the career receptions list. • Shane Carden’s seven-yard rush for the game’s first score to finish off a 13 play, 75-yard drive in the first quarter was his third rushing the last two weeks and his fourth rushing touchdown of the season ... The sophomore has a rushing touchdown in three of the last four games. • Carden 76-yard pass touchdown to Justin Hardy in the first quarter represent the longest pass of the ’s career besting his previous long of 55 yards for a touchdown also to Hardy against Southern Miss (9/15/12) ... The reception was also the longest of Hardy’s career beating his pre- vious long of 58 that also went for a touchdown against Memphis (10/15/11) ... Hardy has now caught 11 touchdowns in his 16 career games including a touchdown catch in nine of his last 11 games (five of six this season). • Warren Harvey knocked in his fifth field goal of the season (a 27 yarder) to close the first half ... Harvey was successful on a 31-yard field goal in the third quarter for his sixth make... He is now 6-for-10 this season in field goals. • Derrick Harris’ 22-yard kickoff return in the third quarter was his longest of the season. • Jabril Solomon’s 60-yard catch off the pass from Carden in the third quarter represented the longest of the Hemingway, S.C. native’s career ... His catch was the second longest reception of the season recorded by ECU behind the 76- yard TD catch by Hardy earlier in the game. • Carden threw for a career-high 298 yards in the loss ... His previous career-high was 258 thrown for last week against UTEP .. He was able to hit 10 different receivers with passes in the game .. The 10 receivers with a catch marked the second time this has happened this season, but the first since the South Carolina game (four games ago). • Hardy went over 100 yards receiving for the second time this season and in his career with 119 receiving yards ... Hardy also topped 100 yards through the air with 111 against South Carolina (9/8/12). • In away games this season Vintavious Cooper has run for 208 yards and is averaging 4.8 yards per carry. • In away games this season Justin Hardy has 22 catches for 347 yards and three touchdowns .... ECU has an overall record of 104-99 in television games. • The contest was ECU’s second night game of the season following last weekend’s game against UTEP. • East Carolina won the toss and elected to receive ... The coin toss victory was the second consecutive by the Pirates this season after losing the toss in six straight games. • With the 40-20 loss to UCF, East Carolina is now 9-3 all-time against the Knights and 31-27 all-time in C-USA road games ... ECU is now 4-8 all- time on Thursday games (4-4 in last eight) and 13-18 on non-Saturday games over the last 17+ seasons ... Scoring first to open the game was a first this season and the first time since the UTEP game (11/12/11) last season that ECU has drawn first blood ... A span that had covered the last two games of last season and the first five games of this year. • ECU extended its school-record for consecutive games without being shutout to 186 contest when Carden ran it in from seven-yards out in the first quarter ... The last time that ECU was blanked was on Oct. 4, 1997 against Syracuse in the Carrier Dome (56-0). • Carden’s 76-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to Hardy represented the longest offensive play of the season for ECU bettering the 55- yard pass and catch TD also from Carden to Hardy against USM (9/15/12) ... The longest overall play so far this season was Lance Ray’s 90-yard kickoff return for TD against Appalachian State to open the season (9/1/12) ... The touchdown pass gave ECU a touchdown pass in 11 of the last 12 games ... The 14 points scored in the first quarter by the Pirates was also a season-high and topped the seven points scored in the opening quarter against UTEP last weekend. • After giving up a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown to UCF’s Quincy McDuffie in the first quarter, the Pirates have given up kickoff returns for scores in back-to-back games (Autrey Golden - UTEP - 96 yards - 9/29/12) ... The kickoff returns for TDs in back-to-back games against the Pirates was the first since 2007 when Houston’s Donnie Avery returned a kickoff for a 100-yard touchdown (9/29/07) and UCF’s Curtis Francis returned his for a 93-yard score (10/6/07). • Warren Harvey’s 27-yard field goal to end the second quarter gave ECU a season-high 17 points in the opening half (bettering the 14 Pirate points scored against Appalachian State to start the season and the 14 points scored against UTEP last weekend) ... The 20 points given up were one off the season-high scored against East Carolina by South Carolina (9/8/12). • The four made field goals from UCF’s Shawn Moffitt was the most made against the Pirates since Danny Hrapman from USM made five in as many attempts on Oct. 9, 2010. • After forcing a turnover on special teams and a recovery by Charlie Coggins, ECU has now forced at least a turnover in 23 of the last 26 games and at least one in 26 of the 31 games under Ruffin McNeill.

Other • Up next: East Carolina returns home for the third contest at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium this season with its game against Memphis on Oct. 13 ... This game will mark the final game between the two schools as conference rivals with Memphis joining the Big East Conference starting next season ... ECU defeated Memphis by a score of 35-17 last season on the road at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. ... After initially falling behind 10-7, the Pirates scored 35 consecutive points in the contest ... Torrance Hunt ran for 98 yards on 16 carries to lead the offensive charge ... Dominique Davis threw three touchdowns and ran for two more in the victory while completing 28 passes for 307 yards ... Justin Hardy had five catches for 85 yards and also had a 51-yard completion to Andrew Bodenheimer ... Danny Webster hauled in seven passes for 67 yards in the contest ... ECU outgained the Tigers 524 to 233 in the game ... East Carolina leads the all-time series with Memphis by 14-6 count including the last six games dating back to start of the 2006 season and have outscored Memphis by a score of 243 to 133.
