Eagle & Gold Publication AAMES Handbook A Look Forward AAMES endeavors to future its scouting ministry by: 1. Utilizing its non-profit arm, Friends of AAMES (FOAAMES) to generate funding to establish, promote, and support AME Scouting Units across the Connection (Districts 1-20). 2. Expanding the reach and scope of AAMES to include other Youth Servicing Agencies (i.e. Big Brother/Big Sister, Campfire USA, 4-H, Civil Air Patrol, American Heritage Girls, WOSM, WAGGGS, etc.) A Look Forward 3. Developing and implementing the AAMES Chaplaincy Corp in collaboration with the Henry McNeal Turner AME Chaplains Association (HMT-CA) and the AME Health Commission. 4. Intentionally engaging Districts 14-20 in the ministry of AAMES. 5. Continuing collaborations with our partners and friends. A Look Forward 6. Creating new opportunities for the scouting ministry of the AME Church to make youth and their leaders a priority. 7. Enhancing our social media presence by continuing to offer virtual programing (merit badge, journeys, beltloops, NOVA Awards, Religious Emblem Awards, Scouts’ Own Services, and camporees). RECOMENDATIONS

For its continued success, the Executive Committee of AAMES make the following recommendations: 1. That the AME Church, through the Connectional and each Episcopal District Christian Education Department, prioritize the scouting ministry as a vital youth ministry in the church by organizing the scouting ministry at every level of the church. (The 11th Episcopal District, under the leadership of Bishop & Supervisor Adam J. Jr. & Connie S. Richardson, have developed and implemented an excellent model). RECOMENDATIONS

2. That connectional components consider ways in which they can collaborate/partner with AAMES for the benefit of our youth … the Church’s future. 3. That AME congregations be encouraged to set aside the fourth Sunday in February as AME Scout Sunday and receive a special offering to support their local AME scouting unit (where established) and/or AAMES (where no local unit is established) for scholarship support. RECOMENDATIONS

4. That AME congregations be encouraged to promote all programming of AAMES (FOAAMES; Bishop’s Award of Excellence; Dr. Kenneth Hill Legacy Award; AAMES Chaplains’ Corp.; P.R.A.Y. Awards; Episcopal Patch Series; Women’s History Month Patch Series; Scholarship Program; Camporees; President’s Volunteer Service Award; & Scouting Units chartered/sponsored by AMECs). 5. That the AME Church engage in fervent prayer for the continued success of this youth ministry. OUR PARTNERS CONGRATULATIONS
