Mikio Mizuta was born in 1905 in Awa County, Chiba Prefecture. He attended Awa Junior High School and Mito High School, before entering Kyoto University, where he graduated from the Faculty of Law. Being a young man with a burning passion for the creation of a new society, he participated in anti-war and anti- military movements during his years as a student. In 1946, he was elected to the first postwar House of Representatives. He is highly acclaimed for his commitment to the rebuilding and growth of the Japanese economy in his more than 30 years in the Diet, where served one term as Minister of International Trade and Industry and five terms as Minister of Finance. PROFILE Yozo Fujino Obtained a Bachelor of Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Tokyo in 1972 and proceeded to that university’s Graduate School of Civil Engineering (MA of Engineering). D., University of Waterloo (Canada) in 1976 (Ph.D.) Began his career as a Research Associate at the Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo, going onto positions as Research Associate and Lecturer at the University of Tsukuba, and Associate Professor and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Tokyo, before becoming a Distinguished Professor at Yokohama National University in 2014. PROFILE Kenji Sugibayashi Kenji Sugibayashi Completed the coursework for the Master’s Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toyama. Earned Ph.D. at Gifu Pharmaceutical University. Worked as a postdoc at the University of Michigan and the University of Utah in the US. Served as an Associate Professor before being appointed Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Josai University. Served as a Dean of the faculty and appointed Vice President of Josai University and Josai International University before his current appointment as President of Josai International University in April 2017. Appointed as the President of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Japan (APSTJ), a Vice-President at the Japanese Cosmetic Science Society, and board member of directors at the Japanese Society for Alternative to Animal Experiments (JSAAE). He has received many scientific awards; like the AFPS (Asia Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences) Distinguished Scientist Award, the JSAAE Achievement Award; the Shukri Distinguished Keynote Lecture Award; the APSTJ Award and so on.
