MINUTES of the meeting of 21 January 2003, 3.00 pm - 6.30 pm, and 22 January 2003, 9.00 am - 12.30 pm BRUSSELS
The meeting opened at 3.10 pm on Tuesday, 21 January 2003, with Theodorus J.J. Bouwman, chairman, in the chair.
1. Adoption of draft agenda PE 316.413
The draft agenda was adopted.
2. Chairman's announcements:
- Joint meeting with the Convention's Social Europe Working Group will take place on 19 February. The Chair of the Working Group Mr Giorgos Katiforis will make a presentation of the Conclusions followed by a debate with Members of both committees. Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou will participate in the meeting.
- Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou will also attend the Committee's next meeting on 19 February to inform the Committee on the concrete measures the Commission intends to propose in the framework of the Health and Safety Strategy 2002-2006.
- The Chair has been invited to attend the informal Council of Employment and Social Affairs on 23-24 January in Nafplion.
- ITRE Committee will organise a hearing on the information society and 3rd generation mobile phones on 28 January. The hearing will also be looking into health related aspects.
- JURI Committee organises a hearing on takeover bids on 28 January 2003.
