SKKU International Summer Semester (ISS) is an unforgettable four-week summer experience. By bringing together talented students and faculty from around the globe. The ISS is not only academically stimulating, but also an opportunity to make new friends and to discover Seoul and Korea. We welcome you to join us on this significant adventure in learning and understanding how to enhance cross-cultural awareness.
The Words of Our Students “I believe that my time in South Korea wouldn't have been half as good if I hadn't studied at SKKU. Koreans and International students gathered after class and shared great laughs and cultural barriers melted away. It was surreal how students from opposite sides of the world could talk and argue about the same things. Needless to say, this was just the tip of the mountain of amazing experiences in South Korea and SKKU.” - Bobby A. Wen (Australian National University, Australia)
“As a participant of the SKKU ISS 2016 program, I can confidently say that this was an opportunity of a lifetime. Not only did I meet and make friends with people from all over the world, I was given the opportunity to challenge myself and learn so much in such a short period of time. I could not recommend ISS enough.” - Marah Subahi (University of Manchester, UK)
“A Greek professor and students from 6 different countries: this is a true reflection of how international SKKU ISS was. Through the lessons and activities, I met and forged strong friendship with people from all around the world. I cultivated a world perspective and now recognize myself as a global citizen. Also, I now have a place to call home and free tour guides in every continent!!! I would strongly recommend this program to anyone who is looking for global exposure.” - Snigdha Seethamsetty (National University of Singapore, Singapore)
Our Faculty “The SKKU ISS presents a tremendous opportunity for participants to desolve into current issues at the interface of society, technology, and globalization. I am excited by the prospect of meeting all of you!” - Professor Navrati Saxena (Sungkyunkwan University, Korea)
“The International Summer Semester at SKKU is a unique occasion for students from all over the world to come together, to study a range of topical subjects while exploring the great city of Seoul and learning about the ancient, as well as the modern culture of Korea. For me, as a professor teaching a course on international relations, it has been an incredible experience to discuss the key issues in world politics with students from many diverse backgrounds. The truly international character of the ISS obliges all participants to re-examine their beliefs and to examine global challenges from a variety of perspectives, creating a perfect learning environment.” - Professor Edward Romar (University of Massachusetts, Boston)
