Stallings, Don B., & J. R. Turner, "A new species of Agathymus and a new sub species of Megathymus (Lepidoptera, Rhopalocera, Megathymidre)." Ent. News, vol.7l: pp.l09-115, 2 pIs. 1960. Describes as new A. fr eemani (near Bagdad, Ariz.; foodplant Agave "deserti"); M. yuccre browni (Salina, Utah; foodplant Yucca har1'imanire). [P. BJ Stempffer. H., "Description d'un lycime nouvcau de la faune malgache" [in French]. Naturaliste ma/gache, vol.2: pp.131-133, 2 figs. 1950. Eicochrysops pauliani, a new lycrenid from Madagascar (Tsaratanana Mt.). [Po VJ Stempffer, H., & N. Bennett, "Revision des genres appartenant au groupc dcs lalaus (Lep. Lycrenidre)" [in French]. Bull. Inst. franr;. Afrique noire, (A), vo1.20: pp.1243-1347; vo1.21: pp.227-235; 199 figs. 1958-59. Very important paper on the revision of the genera belonging to the Io/aus group. After a history of the genera and an indication of the method of study, the authors give a key to the subgenera of Io1aus; afte r this key every subgenus with the species and su bspecies are sllccessively studied . The presentation is not correct; the names of subgenera are not in parentbeses and appear like names of genera. For example, p.1255, in Hemio1aus co'cu/us, Hemio1aus is used in this paper for a subgenus, not a genus. The correct form is 101aus (lIem.iolaus ) c(£culus according to the Regles . The following taxa arc described (correct form indicated): I. () bowkeri ethiopica (Ethiopia, Harrar) , T. (S.) b. occidentalis (Sierra Leone, Batkanu ); 1. () lalos kigezi (Uganda, Kigezi), I . (A. ) crawshayi nyanzre ( Kenya, Mumias), I. (A. ) C. elgon;e (Kenya, Mt. Elgon), I. (A.) C. niloticus (Uganda, Metu Hills), I. (A.) C. littoralis (Kenya, Mombasa); IOLAPHlLUS n. subgen. (type menas H. H. Druce ), I. (Iolaphilus) maritimus (Kenya, Kilifi), I. (Iolaphilus) ndolre (N. Rhodesia, Ndola), 1. (Iolaphilus) vansomereni (Uganda, Metu Hills), l. (Iolaphilus) ;equatorialis (Uganda, Katera), I. (Iolaphilus) cottrelli ( Uganda, Kamengo ), I. ( lolaphilus) kayonza ( Uganda, Kigezi); PHILIOLAUS n. subgen. (type parasilanus Rebel), 1. (P.) parasi/anus maesseni (Br. Togo, Ho); I. () mimosre rhodosense (S. Rhodesia, Umtali) , I. (E.) aphnre oides mafugx (Uganda, Kigezi); I. (E.) moyambina (Sierra Leone, Moyamba), I. (E.) longicauda (Nigeria, Ikom) , I. (E.) dttbiosa (Tanganyika, Amani) , 1. (E.) penningtoni (S. RhodeSia, Hot Springs); ETESIOLAUS n. subgen. (type catori Bethune-Barker). [Po V.J stys, Pavel, "On the lepidopterous nature of the previously dipterous genus Dahlica Enderl ein 1912 (Lepidoptera, Psycbidre- Diptera, Fungivoridre)" [in English; Czech summary J. Acta Soc. ent. cechosloveni;e, vo1.57: pp.76-83. 1960. Very important taxonomic study about Psychidre. The genus Dahlica, classified pre viously in F ungivoridre, is transferred to Psyehidre. The subfamily Dahlicime must be considered as synonymous to "Psycheoidime", sensu Kozhanehikov 1936. Dahlica in all probability is synonymous to Solenobia. [J. MJ Thompson. W. R. , "The interpretation of ." Froc. 10th internat. Congr. Ent., voU : pp.61-73, 3 figs. 1958. Suggests that the complex interrelationships of species can better be explained by a fixed type system than by phylogeny. The author's argument is interesting, but he confuses gaps in zoological knowledge with gaps between types, and his mathematical explanation of a series of discrete types analogous to the periodic table of elements is no substitute for a causal explanation of organic diversity.
