This condition is more likely to occur if your vehicle has been exposed to high levels of absolute humidity for extended periods of time. Excessive internal pressure, during airbag deployment events, could result in an increased chance of occupant injury during certain crash conditions.” “The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents involving these inflators in the affected vehicles; nor has Chrysler Group observed failures in laboratory testing of its air-bag modules. However, these inflators have been linked to two failures in vehicles produced by other auto makers. In these incidents, which occurred in Puerto Rico and southern Florida, air- bag deployment was accompanied by component ruptures.” “Affected owners were sent notification, by mail, the week of February 3rd, 2015.” ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS & REFERENCE Note: Where possible, please attempt to minimize dealer and/or customer referral contact with the Customer Assistance Center regarding P78 inquiries. An inadvertent deployment while driving could distract the driver and cause a crash without warning.” “Safety Recall R06 will upgrade a repair performed as part of a 2012 recall (M35 or N13). In that action, a filter was installed to ensure proper function of a potentially-faulty ORC module supplied to FCA US and two other vehicle manufacturers.” “An illuminated airbag light does not constitute a symptom of this recall action.” “These vehicles are not equipped with Takata airbags.” “FCA is aware of a small number of vehicles affected by the initial campaign (approximately 0.003 percent of the total) were subject to post-repair inadvertent air-bag deployments. Some vehicle occupants suffered minor injuries from contact with the air bags; FCA US is aware of a single related accident.” “Affected owners residing in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Hawaii and Guam were sent notification, by mail, beginning December 29th, 2015. Owners in all other US states were sent notification, by mail, beginning February 8th, 2016.” ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS & REFERENCE Note: If customer still has recall M35 or N13 in "OPEN" status, please schedule a service appointment to perform the repair. • 2008 Dodge Avenger Product Heritage
Contact: Brandt Rosenbusch 2008 Dodge Avenger Product Heritage The First Avenger Plans for the first car to carry the Avenger name were initiated by the Rootes Group (later to become Chrysler Europe) in England in 1963. Intended to replace Rootes’ best-selling vehicle of the time, the Hillman Minx, the project was delayed by funding issues; another car, the Arrow, would become the replacement for the Minx. Still, Rootes executives saw the need for a smaller car, and consideration of what they would call the “B-Car” began in earnest in November 1965. It would prove to be the first and last car developed by Rootes, following its 1967 takeover by Chrysler Corporation. Said to have drawn its inspiration from Detroit, the new car featured a readily identifiable “semi-fastback” design that would become its trademark. Much consideration was given to the needs of female customers; fashion consultants were employed during the design phase. The Hillman Avenger would feature a four-link rear suspension in place of traditional leaf springs, standard front anti-roll bars and a selection of four inline-four cylinder engines. The Hillman Avenger was introduced in February 1970 to popular acclaim. This B-class vehicle, built in sedan and wagon versions to compete with the Austin 1300, Ford Escort, Vauxhall Viva and other small cars, was designed to be the basic no-frills Hillman, with a four-speed manual gearbox an all-iron overhead valve engine. Four-door saloons were built first, followed by two-door saloons and five-door “estate” models. Many variations of the basic Avenger appeared over the years.

  • Vehicle Theft Prevention Quick Reference Guide for the LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY FOREWORD
•2011• Vehicle Theft Prevention Quick Reference Guide FOR THE LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY FOREWORD The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is responsible for establishing and enforcing vehicle antitheft regulations. Motor vehicle theft is a growing problem that results in billions of dollars in losses every year. NHTSA has developed this annual guide to provide the law enforcement community with a concise reference tool to help identify passenger motor vehicles that have been exempted from the parts-marking requirements through model year 2011 and also to assist law enforcement in their prosecution and motor vehicle theft prevention efforts. This new guide provides a quick-reference, comprehensive summary of the vehicles that have been installed with antitheft devices as standard equipment, identifying which vehicles are exempted from the parts-marking requirements, the type of exemption granted (partial or full), and the production year(s) for which the exemption applies. This and future versions of the Vehicle Theft Prevention Quick Reference Guide for the Law Enforcement Community will provide comprehensive information for vehicle lines. The parts-marking requirements have been extended to include: • all passenger cars, • all multipurpose passenger vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,000 pounds or less, • all light-duty trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,000 pounds or less determined to be high-theft, and • all low-theft, light-duty trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,000 pounds or less having a majority of their major parts interchangeable with those of a passenger motor vehicle line subject to the theft prevention standard.
