Treviso--Ostiglia cycle path becomes greener thanks to Adriatic LNG

Grisignano di Zocco, April 16th, 2021 – Adriatic LNG commitment to environmental sustainability continues in collaboration with WOWnature, an initiative by Etifor – a spin-off of the University of Padua – which aims at preserving and enhancing the biodiversity of the territory.

Yesterday afternoon saw the conclusion of the planting phase for over 800 new trees donated by Adriatic LNG to contribute to the reforestation of Treviso-Vicenza-Ostiglia cycle path, in the stretch of (province of Vicenza). On this occasion, the Company met WOWnature’s specialists, the Mayor of Grisignano di Zocco and other partners of the initiative to plant together the last shrubs, as well as check the state of health of the first ones planted last December.

Periodically monitored and cared by WOWnature’s specialists, dogwoods, maple trees, hornbeams, ash trees and lindens will make the cycle path even greener and lusher. This lane crosses the region along the historical abandoned Treviso-Ostiglia railway, a route included in the “Green Tour” project, which is a network of more than 600 kilometers of bike tracks and pedestrian streets promoted by Region.

Furthermore, within the environmental projects launched by WOWnature and supported by Adriatic LNG, April 14 saw the beginning of the planting phase for the 300 new trees donated by the Company to support the creation of a food forest in Milan’s Parco Nord. This area consists in a 10,000 square meters wood of fruit trees and shrubs good for men, accessible to anyone who wants to discover the cultivation of native species and the culinary usage of products such as fruits, berries, buds and flowers.

Operating since autumn 2009, the Adriatic LNG regasification terminal assures to about 10% of national gas consumptions. A strategic infrastructure for the Country for its contribution to the diversification of energy supply, Adriatic LNG at present has contributed to satisfy national natural gas consumptions by delivering to the national pipeline network more than 70 billion cubic meters of gas (corresponding to more than half of domestic consumption in 2019) coming by ship from 8 Countries (Qatar, Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago, Equatorial Guinea, Norway, Nigeria, United States and Angola). Adriatic LNG is co-controlled by ExxonMobil Italiana Gas and Qatar Terminal Limited (a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum) and participated by SNAM.
