Christian Louboutin STEPPING IN STYLE

The one thing Bruno Frisoni Shoes must be bold!that is constant:

18 Devi Kroell 19 3.1 Phillip Lim

Spring 2009 is inspired by the violent romanticism of the Spanish culture… the marriage between the sensuous movements of flamenco dancers and the refined ferocity of the matador. This tension is used to experiment with cutting and forcing strong curves into a somber silhouette that remains effortless and natural. The collection conjures images of Eva Perron in her time, who like the bullfighter, had an explicit precision to her style, while using decoration and ornamentation with an appealing kitsch. The mood is fluid, regal, and refined.

20 21 Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang takes Spring 2009 in a new direction; color is brought into the vision on a new scale. The familiar dark urban aesthetic of seasons’ past is replaced with sexy, sporty and glossy looks that come in vivid colors extracted from old Miami Vice episodes. The collection pushes a perceived idea of tackiness and exposes it in a way that makes it beautiful and refined. An undercurrent of athletic wear and sport culture juxtaposes super sexy, body-conscious shapes with oversized basketball jerseys, leather boxing shorts and a lace print that becomes denser in certain areas as if she’s been working out all day.

22 23 Alexis Mabille

I just love those mid 19th century portraits of little girls " in their pastel color frocks looking like delicious cakes; their spirit inspired me for this particular dress in confectionery color. -Alexis" Mabille

24 25 Azzaro

For my S/S 2009 collection I was " inspired by sunsets and daiquiris (having passed a very rainy summer in the French Pyrenees) which came out in the color palette and the plexi sandals. I was also inspired by Sylvie Vartan's concert costumes designed by Bob Mackie (flower dresses). -Vanessa Seward "

26 27 Badgley Mischka

For Spring 2009, we took our cues from glamorous " crossings between New York and Cherbourg or Le Havre during the golden age of ocean travel – days at leisure, nights full of promise. -Mark Badgley and James Mischka"

28 29 Balmain

If you're hot, don't stop! The buzz around Christophe Decarnin's Balmain is a smack in the eye for fashion doom-mongering. His Spring collection - all bling and rock-chick fabulousness - gives a shot of pure adrenalin. For a girl looking for an instant backstage pass, this is the wardrobe that will send her sailing past the heaviest security on sight.

30 31 Barbara Tfank

The Barbara Tfank Spring 2009 Collection is inspired by the modern screen heroines in Hollywood’s Screwball Comedies of the 1930’s. Brilliant comic actresses like Carole Lombard, Irene Dunn and Katherine Hepburn brought offbeat glamour and wit to a Depression Era world very much in need of cheer. From Carole Lombard’s dazzling lamé in My Man Godfrey to Claudette Colbert’s mitered silk flounce in It Happened One Night, the Screwball heroine was improbably chic and unafraid to pursue her own desires. Above all, she wore her best clothes all the time.

32 33 Behnaz Sarafpour

We made this print by computer " manipulating photos of flowers – my garden was the inspiration. It’s more about the process of reconstructing an existing piece and transforming it into something new and beautiful. -Behnaz Sarafpour "

34 35 Bodyamr

For SS09 Bodyamr explores the decadence of Orientlist past and the hidden sexual prowess of modern femininity. Silver antique shackle like cuffs adorn the legs and arms, echoing the culturally hostile Texan takeover of the Middle East in the 1970’s. Rich peacock blues, coral reds and stark bone whites are drenched with sand tones reminiscent of the sites and surroundings of a newly fashioned eastern world. Inspiration is drawn from the brotherhood of Pre-Raphaelites. Statutorily denied revolutionary artists that created the new avant- garde, making way for change.

36 37 Bruno Frisoni

The Spring-Summer 09 collection is inspired by the subtle blend of silhouettes from the 1930s, 40s and 70s. Bright, multi-coloured designs, very Bruno Frisoni, are another important vein running through the collection. Mandarin, bright green, ochre, turquoise, chalk, grey, red, and pink unite in a snappy rainbow of colour. The energy of the 1970s is revealed through the marriage of pop colours, graphic lines, and strong materials. This collection is an invitation to travel through the ages mingling the colours and energies of yesterday for today’s stylish woman.

38 39 Calvin Klein

This season, I really wanted to design the ultimate" wardrobe for a modern women's lifestyle and travel is an important aspect of that. Many of the pieces in the collection can be folded or compressed into flat, geometric forms and were designed to travel well. -Calvin" Klein

40 41 Camilla Skovgaard

Saddle Lace-up Sandal has a harness " feel to it, even though it's mostly interpreted as bondage. Then again harness and bondage has long moved in same circles...

... I think the styles AlOthman bought all have a strong equine reference, especially style 'Barbero Race Sandal'. It reminds me of an equine harness and somehow the tapered back part curve is like that of a thoroughbred - the open view to the muscles of the foot on display at front...

... Zaha Open Toe Bootie is done as gentle homage to Zaha Hadid's fluid lines which often remind me of the rounded-edge curves I always tend to end up doing. Pencil flows naturally in that direction. -Camilla Skovgaard " 42 43 Carolina Herrera

The Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 collection is a play on color and contrast. Marigold, persimmon, hibiscus, and teal join the high contrast of all the shades of white and finishes of black. The fabrics; tweed organza, textured silk, lacquered raffia, and silk cloqué. Structured masculine tailoring paired with soft weightless evening gowns define this effortless collection that contrasts ideas of Botticelli’s ethereal woman and the Russian Constructivist’s crisp simplicity. For the day a linear silhouette countered by fluid motion for the night.

44 45 Carolina Herrera

46 47 Catherine Deane

The Catherine Deane collection for SS09 features playful & flowing shapes with drapes and looser silhouettes for daywear and separates... Styles feature a layering and complex mix of best in class French & Italian fabrics. Each piece is crafted with mix of subtle muted tones & colour. Techniques include organic lace appliqués with references to nature through leafy edges and lace trims. For some longer dress styles tailoring and sculpting through asymmetrical, bounded, and engineered panels.

48 49 Christian Louboutin

Very colorful, extra high heel shoes collection. Lots of patent leather, glitter and exotic skins. Fringe boots in warm colors (terracotta, sand, blush) in soft suede. Very delicate shoes with silk petals in pastel colors.

50 51 Collette Dinnigan

Collette Dinnigan Spring Summer 09 conjures a whimsical, ethereal paradise juxtaposed with an air of heavy regiment and the virtuous whispers of utilitarianism

52 53 Derek Lam

Spring 09’s languorous mixture of sportiness and femininity was inspired by a photo of Gabrielle Chanel from the early 20th century sitting in a boat on one of Venice’s canals. The candid photo shows Chanel in conversation, and her outfit of crewneck sweater, trousers and a swath of fabric tied around her hips, along with her masculine beauty contribute to her very contemporary look.

Chanel’s embodiment of such a modern mix, the lushness of Venice, Italy, and the laid back informality of Venice, California, as seen on a recent visit, became entwined to form the backbone of the Spring 09 collection.

54 55 Devi Kroell

Simplicity of form, tactile surfaces, and exquisitely effortless shapes; using the distinctive signatures that inform her accessory designs, Devi Kroell offers a fresh vision of modern femininity in her debut ready-to-wear collection. Unencumbered by vintage references or excess embellishments, Kroell’s architectural pieces serve as a lesson in elegant restraint.

56 57 Devi Kroell

Innovative heels feature embedded swaths of a shimmering mesh layered with opaque gloss, and come wrapped in either gunmetal or gilded bands. The abbreviated Bootie cut comes in stingray or sea snake - making a similarly strong impact.

58 59 Douglas Hannant

Nuances - lightness, sheer layers, " Impressionist garden, serenity, Grace Kelly, peace. -Douglas Hannant"

60 61 Elie Saab

A bouquet of flowers painted « En plein air » in vibrant pastel shades of hydrangea blue, daffodil or almond blossom green and all shades of lilac, spring rose and palest stone. Gathered from the freshness of the garden of Giverny. Shapes are ultra-short or long and fluid. Some are embroidered with bold motifs, others feature tone-on- tone geometric abstractions, prints of interlaced branches, a flower bed of embroidery or a field of petals.

62 63 Elie Saab

64 65 Erdem

It was instinctual, it was about what felt right "for now - that is, an optimistic celebration. And I wanted to portray a delicate, light-handed decadence. It was about Midsummer Nights dream, but a very modern dream. -Erdem Moralioglu"

66 67 Giambattista Valli

It’s about a metamorphosis. There’s" a big change going on in these times. - Giambattista Valli "

68 69 Giles

For the Spring Summer 2009 collection I looked at the graphic " designers of the late eighties and early nineties who I grew up admiring Ben Kelly, Peter Saville, and Mark Farrow whose work was ridiculously simple but incredibly graphic. Pac-Man (the precursor of every modern computer game) dates from the same sort of vintage. -Giles Deacon"

70 71 Guy Laroche

The inspiration stems from the Land of Punt. Deserts, oceans, unknown rivers, crocodiles, amazons. Gold, silver, electrum.

72 73 Halston

For Spring 2009, the house of Halston is the true exemplar of modern American luxury. The Halston heritage of effortless glamour and elegance is evident throughout the collection – fabrics, textures and colours all speak of the brand’s luxury qualities.

74 75 Hervé Léger

For Spring / Summer 2009, seductive sophistication meets the fast paced beat of an urban night. Layering elements to compose designs in graphic slices, the body is revealed through the effects of optical illusion. Sculptural accessories and neon bandage silhouettes define a modernist superstructure of feminine power.

76 77 Issa

The inspiration was Rio de Janeiro in the 70s. " Copacabana beach, Ipanema and Leblon. The colors and prints are all inspired by Brazil. -Daniella Issa Helayel "

78 79 Jason Wu

Inspired by Jason’s trip to Tokyo this past summer, 2009. The energy, the electric explosion of color and the way the Japanese people embrace life with hope, strength and happiness. Jason used several of the details of classic Japanese icons like the fan and interpreted them in pleated silk and created a dress with 75 fans. As well, Jason used pleated detailing throughout the collection as trims and for skirts of gowns.

80 81 Josh Goot

The inspiration for the collection is Water. " - Josh Goot "

82 83 Lela Rose

The Lela Rose 2009 collection is literally Out of Africa by way of 10021. Inspiration came from the kaleidoscope of colors, prints and shapes found in African tribal wear, yet staying true to a feminine aesthetic. The effortless style of twisting and tying of Mende tribe women’s headdresses inspired a woven faille wrapped dress cinched with a cotton embroidered tapestry belt.

My philosophy of design is about creating beautiful, hand" finished clothes that exude a casual luxury and refinement. - Lela Rose "

84 85 Luisa Beccaria

Set in an enchanted, magical garden Luisa Beccaria Spring Summer 2009 is exquisitely romantic. Like in a dream all is soft, graceful, and airy with an illusory touch.

Fluidity and structure. Loose lines alternate with strong and detailed construction. Silhouettes are no longer static. The soul of the collection is in its three dimensional effects, ever present in fabrics, shapes and volumes inspired by the flower in all its aspects; petals, patterns, colors and scents.

86 87 Malandrino

Dawn is one of those rare moments when you get the impression that something magical could happen to you. Shades of nude, lights, sunrise and dusk are layered to create illusions. Jersey and jacquard are veiled with tulle and folds embrace the curve. As the day breaks, she glows.

88 89 Marios Schwab

Marios Schwab’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection presents itself as jewellery to the body. Taking in- spiration from one of the earliest and simplest forms of clothing in history - the traditional Greek Khiton, where cloth is gently draped across the body and then held together, with either rope or metal chain, to unite and form a garment.

90 91 Matthew Williamson

The Matthew Williamson woman for Spring Summer 2009 collection is an exotic chameleon. She celebrates a new found balance between restriction and decadence and radiates powerful modernity.

92 93 Naeem Khan

Late 1970’S… Diana Vreeland… Loulou De La Falaise… Dd Ryan... Babe Paley… Tina Chow… Tibet. Japan. China. (By Way Of Park Avenue) The East Side Gets Lost In Translation.

94 95 Oscar de la Renta

A celebration of feminine sophistication.

96 97 Oscar de la Renta

98 99 Peter Pilotto

We obsessed on (about) natural "phenomena's that one mostly takes for granted – smoke, light, shadow and a vision of microscopic butterfly wings, all of which are represented in the hyper-real prints of our Spring Summer 09 collections. -Peter Pilotto " and Christopher De Vos

100 101 Peter Som

Peter Som’s Spring 2009 Collection is about signature quirkily romantic dressing and relaxed elegance takes to the desert. Imagine windswept dunes evoking sun-baked fabrics and a chic caravan of sophisticated modern- dressing. Swarovski crystals dust a should or a hemline as if accented by the sun and sand while the palette ranges from neutrals such as mushroom, toast and sand, punctuated by shots of oasis blues, hot tangerines and soft sunset pinks.

Desert-style is re-interpreted in a mix of luxe embellishments and sumptuous embroideries, easy refined and chic sophistication all mixed with a sense of offbeat glamour.

102 103 Ports 1961

In one remarkable painting, Tia Cibani inspiration from the Canadian artist Emily Carr (1871-1945), whose works have motivated Ports 1961 to explore the Tree-lined shores of the Pacific Northwest. Carr’s confident use of color and form encouraged Tia Cibani in her quest to render Spring 2009 in strong linear silhouettes. Horizontal lines across the body, articulated in pleated detail, are an exercise in segmenting a form that is essentially long, narrow and austere. Like Emily Carr’s passage through totem forests, like the soaring landscape of trees that populate her art, Ports 1961 journeys north this season to reach for its own roots… in Canada, in art, and in a celebration of nature in all her finery.

104 105 Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 09 explores a return to a certain kind of simplicity anchored in a strong distinct silhouette. The work of American artists Robert Ryman and Richard Serra inform the language of the collection. Strong form coexists with graphic shapes in soft colors. A polished high-femininity is contradicted with sharper, more industrial notes. A fuller expression of “the feminine” is explored.

106 107 REDUX Charles Chang-Lima

For his, REDUX Charles Chang-Lima Spring 2009 collection, Charles Chang-Lima was inspired by Hitchcocks timeless highly stylized Thrillers. The ethereal quality of Grace Kelly in her Goddess Gown and Tippi Hardens perfectly tailored dresses are reflected throughout his collection.

108 109 Reem Acra

Reem invites you to travel with her through time and space to an incredible attic hidden away at the top of a royal palace. There she will share with you the enthusiasm and splendor of newly discovered hidden treasures: semi-precious stones and rich fabrics in a rainbow of colors. Watch in wonder as she drapes these fabrics effortlessly to create a cascade of color and glamour which will sweep you away to the dream ball of a fantasy spring world.

110 111 RM by Roland Mouret

He is an artist, he was a sculpture. "His work was quite large and curvy. -Colin McDowell "

112 113 Roberta Furlanetto

A collection inspired by lightness, pure and proportioned femininity, minimalist yet rich in graphic details to define new profiles. The precision of the silhouette, design and strictly tailored construction - the dominant DNA of Roberta Furlanetto style - evolve into a new dimension where fabrics and materials take on unexpected energy, creating a new meaning that is poetic yet sharp and ultra-defined, thanks to expert cuts and tailored finishes.

114 115 Saloni

The Spring Summer 2009 collection reads like the sketchbook of a nomadic wanderer. It is a play on lines, transforming cords and varied fabric ribbons into woven textiles and intricate detailing. The colours and shapes are bold and convey strength while the prints, inspired by geometrical cacti and pixilated dandelions, mix the linear with the organic. The combination of textures, prints and colors, brings out a free spirited, explorative mood. The woman who wears the clothes travels the world, piecing together ideas in a way that makes them entirely her own.

116 117 Sinha-Stanic

For their Spring Summer 2009 Collection, Designers Fiona Sinha and Aleksandar Stanic took inspiration from the textural and abstract paintings of contemporary artist Peter Doig as well as the social dress codes of the 1950s: “We wanted to reflect the wardrobes of both the working class Teddy Girls (depicted in Ken Russell’s photographs) and their high society counterparts.” says Fiona. “Those incredible young girls who lived and breathed Couture, I guess it’s something you’ll see reflected in the quality and nature of the fabrics.” But things aren’t what they first appear: “There’s a darker side too, adds Aleksandar “A sinister horror film feel and you’ll see dreamlike patterns and images immerge from atmospheric and dusky backgrounds. It can get kind of dreamlike, especially set against all the vivid colour.

118 119 Sophie Théallet

Sophie Théallet’s Spring 2009 collection celebrates the freedom of traveling the world, transcending borders and exploring different cultures. Taking the traditional dress of her native South West France as a starting point, Sophie also plays with references to North African nomad and Native American costumes. But the vagabond spirit is filtered through the eyes of an expert couturier. Elegant silhouettes and rigorous craftsmanship mold the exotic influences into the very image of impeccable chic.

120 121 Temperley London

Romantic odyssey is inspired by the age of enchantment, an era which dominated the culture of post Victorian Britain.

This was a time the restraints of Victorian darkness were combined with a movement towards color, light and space. Inspired by characters of the time, Beardsley, Dulac and Charlie Chaplin.

We have combined bold graphic details with a riot of colorful accents and patterns with rich fabric manipulations, creating a clean and pure collection full of references of this wonderful world of enchantment and the iconic figures that brought us this new and celebrated era.

122 123 The Row

The Row’s Spring Summer 2009 collection takes it’s inspiration from the “La Dolce Vita” style of the Mediterranean. Deep blue, stone, white, khaki, sand, green and camel bring to mind the Amalfi coast, and the mountains of southern France. Crisp tailoring and flowing lightweight fabrics bring a modern vision of 60’s Riveria style, to life.

124 125 Tracy Reese

The Tracy Reese Spring 2009 collection is a brilliant progression of nature and form with delicate, yet sophisticated pieces that emanate modern romance and strong femininity. Watercolor pastels converge into deeply intense vibrant hues, while relaxed silhouettes shift into layered and then architectural shapes, telling the story of a garden fantasy and the evolution of spring.

126 127 Twinkle

Twinkle’s Spring 2009 Collection takes inspiration from free spirited iconic actress Jean Seberg. Her idealistic school girl charm is captured with classic tailored pieces accented by ultra-feminine details that bring to light her bohemian artistry. Seberg’s grace and beauty is revealed through a blend of colors, textures, timeless prints, and trim sillouettes. Film noir set the mood this season and the Twinkle girl has been cast.

128 129 Vera Wang

The Vera Wang Spring 2009 Collection celebrates all the vibrancy and naïveté of Niki de Saint Phalle, a woman and artist of extraordinary imagination, individuality and spirit. From clean sculptural shapes and narrow body-conscious silhouettes to layers of sheer, billowy wisps of color, these clothes represent a playful yet artful mélange of slips, basketball t s over-skirts and cover-ups. Architectural, yet feminine, playful yet sophisticated, this collection reflects the optimism and orchestrated cacophony that defined Niki de Saint Phalle.

130 131 Vera Wang Lavender

This season, the Vera Wang Lavender Collection draws subtle inference from the emblematic portraits of Diane Arbus to a charming take on sophisticated street urchins.

Layers of all sorts, from little muscle t’s and tiny “knitted” undies to transparent slips of organza, chiffon, silk and eyelet help to create changes in texture, shape and proportion while washed military coats, jackets and pants provide a boyish counterpart to all the delicacy.

The mostly neutral palette of black, white, navy and beige is off-set with hints of red, yellow, and pale pink with enormous emphasis on “motorcycle” chain belts, necklines, and bracelets.

132 133 Zero + Maria Cornejo

I wanted to take a moment to look back "and examine the ideas that have fueled the collection over the years. In this disposable world, conviction about an idea should become a permanent part of ones vocabulary. - Maria Cornejo "
