Hedlund Quick Facts Head Coach John Hedlund Age: 48 2011 Sun Belt Coach of the Year Alma Mater: Midwestern State (‘85) Playing Experience: Midwestern Having established himself as one of the most prominent coaches in the Central Region, John State University 1980-84, U.S. Olympic Hedlund, who is in his 17th year at North Texas, has molded the soccer program into one of Team 1983-84, New York Express the nation’s elite. Hedlund has had a winning season all 16 years he has been at North Texas; (MISL) 1984-85, Sidekicks only Anson Dorrance (North Carolina, 29 years) and John Daly (William & Mary, 24 years) (MISL, CISL) 1986-95, Dallas Rockets have active streaks of more winning seasons at one school. Since 1995, Coach Hedlund has (SISL) 1988-91. led North Texas to 220 wins, which is 27th among active Division I coaches entering 2011.
