1. Title: Campaign for Organ donation among school children

2. Goal:

World Organ Donation day is celebrated on August 13th every year. It is reported that

almost 5 lakhs of the Indians every year die due to organ failure or damage due to various

reasons. The programme aims in providing awareness among the school children about

the relevance of organ donation.

keep themselves by refraining from dangerous activities like smoking, addiction in drugs

etc. It is important that everyone should develop their mind and body for the better future

of the nation. A nation can grow strong inly when it is able to do every kind of work at

the right time in the right manner.

4. Practice:

The department of Statistics took initiation to conduct an awareness programme for the

school children of two nearby schools. PR William Higher Secondary School, Kattakada

and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Kulathummal were the schools selected for the

programme. An awareness was given to the children about the world organ donation day

and its relevance. There are a lot of people in the world who are eagerly waiting for the

right kind of organ for transplantation. The government has generated many organisations

that provide people with a lot of information on the needs of people suffering from organ

failure. The government is also organising many camps to get the people attention towards

the needy who requires organs to sustain their lives. It is very important for the donor to

first undergo a thorough check up his/her own body organ before transplanting it to the

IQAC Report 2016-2017 Page 54 other person who receives it. Various blood tests, X-rays and Sonography can determine

the soundness of the health of the donors organ. A form was distributed to the students

to state their willingness to donate their organs and which organ they wish to donate.
