Avanti Orchestra News Nan Cooper or its season opening concert on September 30, conductor FPablo Saelzer and the Avanti Orchestra shared the stage with the 2018 Johansen International Competition first-prize winner Julian Rhee at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring. The concert opened with Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, Kodály’s Dances of Galánta and Schubert’s Allegretto from Symphony No. 3. Lastly, Mr. Rhee took the stage to deliver an exciting performance of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto bringing the audience to its feet at the conclusion of the concert.
