Lookout Canterbury, Youth Glide is heading your way! This year Youth Glide will be hosting its annual Meeting (AGM) & Mingle in Canterbury. Just like the previous Meeting & Mingles, Youth Glide will arrange a series of aviation-related activities during this weekend which will hopefully include some gliding at the Canterbury Gliding Club.
This weekend is not just for YGNZ youth members – we encourage friends, family, and all supporters of YGNZ to attend and join in on the fun. Schedule

Airways Radar Centre Visit
Have you ever wondered how aircraft are kept separated as they fly from A to B? Thanks to the people within our radar centres we can ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic both domestically and internationally. Airways operate two radar centres in New Zealand, one in Auckland and another in Christchurch. Youth Glide has been given a wonderful opportunity to take two small groups into the Christchurch Radar Centre for a glimpse into the life of a Radar Controller.
We are limited to the number of people who can attend this activity so make sure your register for the event! It will be a first in first served basis.

Gliding @ Canterbury Gliding Club
Have you ever experienced gliding in Canterbury? Why not give it a go! The Canterbury Gliding Club will have duty instructors, twin training fleet, winch launches and/or aerotow available which sounds like a recipe for plenty of fun! The Canterbury Gliding Club youth rates will apply and Youth Glide will provide subsidies towards flying accounts for those that take advantage of this opportunity.

Representatives from the Gliding New Zealand membership team are excited to present and facilitate an interactive activity which will allow you to add your thoughts and ideas on the next Gliding New Zealand strategy which is being developed in preparation for the 2020 GNZ AGM. BBQ Dinner
You can’t visit a gliding club without having a BBQ to wrap up the day. Youth Glide invites friends, family, Canterbury Gliding Club members, and all other supporters of YGNZ to join us for a social BBQ dinner at the Springfield Aerodrome.

Ballooning Canterbury
Escape to a world of peace and tranquillity. Hot Air Ballooning is a magical experience and a flight with Ballooning Canterbury offers panoramic views across the fertile Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps. Thanks to Mike and Nick Oakley, members of the Canterbury Gliding Club, we hope to offer YGNZ attendees a ballooning experience for a reduced price. This activity is subject to weather.

Air Force Museum of New Zealand
The Air Force Museum of New Zealand is the national museum for the Royal New Zealand Air Force, located on the former air base at Wigram, Christchurch. If you are interested in aviation and haven’t been to Wigram before, this is a must-do activity. If the weather doesn’t play ball, a visit to the Wigram will be on the cards!

We are doing our best to keep costs to a minimum. While many of the activities are free of charge, please consider the costs associated with the following:
