Postal Orders Are issued with counterfoils at every Money Order Office and at a large number of smaller offices for every 6d. up to 2os. and for 21s. A fraction of 1d. i~ not allowed. Perforated stamps not accepted. The person to whom a Postal 6rder is issued must fill in the name of the person to whom the amount is to be paid, and may fill in the name of the Office at which the amount is to be paid. The person so named must before payment can be made, sign the receipt at the foot of the Order, and fill in the name of the Office if that has not been already done. The counterfoil bearing the number; and on which should be recorded the date, name and office, of issue should be retained, in case the Order should be lost. If any erasure or alteration be made, or if the Order be cut, defaced, or mutilated, payment may be refused. After the expiration of three months from the last day of the month (I[ issue, a Postal Order will only be cashed on payment of a Commission ('qual to the amount of the original poundage. The commission thus paid must be affixed in Postage Stamps to the back of the Order. Postal Orders presented for paym('nt more than six months after issue are not paid until reference has been made to the Chtef Office. Post Office Savings Bank. Savings Bank business is transacted at all Money Order Offices. Depositors not only have Direct Government Security for their money, but also have the advantage of being able to add to or withdraw from the deposits, at any Money Order Office in the United Kingdom. Deposits may be made in sums of one shilling, or any number of shillings, subject to the limits of £so in one year ending the 31st December (in addition to depositing one sum or several sums for the purpose of replacing, in whole or in part, the amount of any one with­ drawal previously made in the same year), and £2oo in all, including interest and Stock Dividends, if any, unless deposited for immediate investmentin Govemment Stock. Ordinary deposits made in any year ending 31st December applied to the purchase of Stock, or to Annuity or Life Insurance purposes during the same year, are not reckoned in regard to the annual limit of deposits. Deposits of one shilling may be made by means of penny stamps, collected on forms supplied for the purpose, but the stamps must not be defaced or damaged.
