ONE DAY REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON “MARINE FISHERY RESOURCE OF KARNATAKA: SUSTAINABLE UTILISATION, CONSERVATION, DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT” ORGANISHED BY MORMUGAO BASE OF FISHERY SURVEY OF INDIA
The Mormugao Base of Fishery Survey of India organized one-day regional workshop on “Marine fishery resource of Karnataka: Sustainable utilisation, Conservation, Development and Management” on 08.08.2017 at the Auction Hall, Gangoli Fishing Harbour, Kundapura Taluka, Udupi Dist., Karnataka.
Shri P. Parshwanath, Deputy Director of Fisheries, Udupi, Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest for the function and inaugurated the workshop and presided over by Shri S. K. Jaiswal, Mechanical Marine Engineer, Mormugao Base of Fishery Survey of India.
Shri Purushotham Arkati President, Trawl Boat Union, Gangolli; Shri Ramesh Kunder, President, Purse Seine Meenugarara Swa-Sahaya Sangha, Gangolli; Shri Mohan Kharvi, President, Hasimeenu Vyaparasthara Sangha, Gangolli; Shri Naga Kharvi, President, Gangolli; Primary Fisheries Cooperative Society, Gangolli; Shri Manju Billava, President; Nadadhoni Meenugarara Sangha Reg., Gangolli and Shri Lokesh Kharvi, President, Deep Sea Fishing Boats Association, Gangolli were the Guest of Honors during the workshop.
Dr. Pradeep H. D. Fisheries Scientist welcomed the dignitaries and fishermen from Kundapura (Gangolli), Karnataka region.
The Chief Guest addressed the local fishermen regarding exploration and exploitation of marine fishery resources on a sustainable manner for Conservation and Management of fishery resources. Shri S. K. Jaiswal, Mechanical Marine Engineer, FSI Goa, delivered the key note address and explained mandate of FSI, History and objective for organizing workshop.
Vote of thanks was given by Shri S. G. Patwari, Jr. Fisheries Scientist, Mormugao base of FSI, Goa.
About 126 participants including local fishermen, representative of fishermen cooperative societies from nearby villages and also the staff of the Directorate of Fisheries, Karnataka attended the workshop.
