It draws heavily from the UNESCO: IBE Education Thesaurus and the ERIC Thesaurus to ensure the standardization of terms with respect of the international context, but makes necessary adjustments for terms as used in the educational literature of the English- speaking Caribbean. It also draws on the UNBIS Thesaurus for additional terms. Each main term indicates, where applicable: Broader terms (BT) Narrower terms (NT) Related terms (RT) For some terms, additional information is provided: Scope Note (SN) – Note explaining the meaning or usage of the term. The source of the note is provided in many cases Used for (UF) – Non-preferred terms or synonyms Use – Linking the non-preferred term to the preferred one The CERIS Name Authority File provides the form of the name of persons, organizations, secondary schools, universities and colleges, academic libraries, and Ministries of Education in the English-speaking Caribbean, as they are to be recorded in CERIS databases.
