Affiliation. Base Of Operations. Status. Alignment. Identity. Marital Status. Characteristics. Gender. Height. Weight. Origin. Universe. Creators. Raven is the daughter and herald of the demon and a member of the Teen . Contents. History. Origin. The woman later known as Raven was born of the demon Trigon, a demonic entity who had conquered many worlds and fathered many sons; however this was his first and (so far) only daughter. Trigon murdered the women who birthed his sons, however he allowed his daughter's mother to live, believing that his daughter needed to be raised by a human in order to help her reshape the under-realms in his image. Afraid of what Trigon had in store for their daughter, Raven's mother took her daughter and fled to the dimension of Azarath, which was beyond Trigon's , where she named the child Rachel . Over time, the monks of that realm trained Rachel to control her powers and overcome her father's influence. When Trigon finally found her again, Rachel fled from Azarath to Earth in order to protect her mother and teachers. Eventually she was found by the immortal Phantom Stranger on Trigon's behalf. When she returned to Trigon's realm time itself flowed differently, and it was revealed that Trigon was impressed by her natural abilities, allowing her to have free will and shape her own destiny. He gave her a seat at his throne, and renamed her Raven. Return of Trigon. Raven returned to Earth to interfere with the fight between Trigon and the . She recruited , who had been left for dead in the rubble of an unknown facility. There Raven used her empathy powers to mind-control Beast Boy, making him her thrall. With Beast Boy in tow, Raven teleported to the middle of a battle between the Teen Titans and the psychic villain Psimon. Using Beast Boy she was able to knock out Psimon and cause his defeat. Meanwhile Trigon's three sons, Belial, Ruskoff, and Suge, assaulted the Teen Titans in an attempt to take Raven back. Raven, Beast Boy, and the Titans defeated them, but Trigon himself appeared again and took control of the Titans save for Raven, Beast Boy, and Red Robin. When the manipulated Titans attacked, Raven had Beast Boy distract them and Trigon long enough for Red Robin to cut through Trigon's eyes with his wings on his costume. Trigon, pulling out the wings from his eyes, complimented Red Robin before suddenly disappearing. Soon after, a woman and a group of suited men came through a portal, informing everyone that they would take Psimon into custody and make the incident appear as if it had never happened. When questioned about the police officers Psimon had killed, the woman revealed it had been a hallucination by Trigon, so therefore it had never happened. Raven and Beast Boy were re-accepted into the Teen Titans. While apart of the team Raven made things awkward for them by revealing all the relationships Red Robin had when under Trigon's control. Raven went into her room, leaving the awkward situation behind. There, she summoned her father, saying, "Father, I am one of them. Your plan worked perfectly," leaving questions on what side she was really playing for. Meanwhile, Red Robin called Raven aside, telling her that if something happened to him, the team would look to her to lead them. Incomplete There's something missing here. When all of Earth's greatest heroes were gone and the Crime Syndicate of America had taken over the world, the Teen Titans attempted to challenge the Crime Syndicate. However, they were easily overpowered by Johnny Quick and Atomica and were then flung into the time stream. While the Titans were constantly flung through time, Raven was sent a few thousand years back in time. There, she was challenged by Etrigan the Demon, who recognized her as Trigon's daughter and tried to kill her. Raven was saved by , who suggested that the way to stop Raven's powers, since she was born and raised in a world between worlds, was to manipulate the energy within the time stream. Raven succeeded in anchoring the Titans with her soul-self, teleporting them through time. The Titans arrived 20 years into the future, where Jonathan Lane Kent had massacred most of Earth's superheroes, leaving only a few, including Beast Boy, now calling himself Beast Man, and . Kon-El and Jon battled, and Kon triumphed. Kon was then sent elsewhere by an unknown power, and a severely injured Jon was swapped unknowingly as by Beast Boy and Rose Wilson. Trial of . While traveling through time Raven and the Titans arrived to the 30th century, where they found out that their teammate Kid Flash was actually a rebel leader and war criminal, named Bar Torr. It was during this time that Raven deduced that the Superboy with them was actually Jon, and she helped send him back to the present time so that he could find a cure for his deteriorating body condition. After leaving Kid Flash and in the future, Raven and the others returned to their original time where she discovered that her connection with Trigon had been severed. The Culling. Following an attack by the villain Grimm, the Titans planned a final attack on Harvest's new colony. Raven was reluctant to join because of her past actions, but after told her that everybody deserved a second chance, Raven changed her mind. In the colony, the Teen Titans were surprised to find that everyone is returned to normal, and even the victims of the Culling had been restored to life. Raven played a crucial role by finding out Harvest's scheme to extract all the metagenes to create a massive DNA strand for his usage. Raven destroyed it using her soul-self, leaving Harvest to finally be defeated. The White Carnival. After the Titans separated, Raven found out that her mother had a sister living in San Francisco. She decided to visit her aunt so that she could learn more about her mother's side of the family. Raven was surprised to discover that her Aunt Alice and her family are dedicated Christians. During her stay, Raven attended Madison High School where she cast a spell on several students, in order to have a group of friends and fit in. She soon came across one student that was seemingly under the control of a mysterious white orb which had begun to grow near a carnival. The orb fed on the souls of the young, and Raven did her best to try and stop it. After several attempts, she failed, until her aunt and the citizens of San Francisco gave her the strength that she needed to defeat the orb and wipe everyone's memories of the event. Rebirth. Some time after leaving the Teen Titans, Raven set out to learn more about her family and her father Trigon. During this time she lived in a museum, until one day she found herself knocked unconscious. When Raven came to, she found herself in an unknown location alongside several other young superheroes including her former teammate Beast Boy, the new Kid Flash, and . The identity of her captor was revealed to be Robin who explained that he had kidnapped them in order to recruit them to his new Teen Titans team. [1] He went on to explain that he needed each of their unique skills in order to take down his grandfather Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins. [2] She is targeted by one called Plague. Abigail Pershing , formerly known as Abigail Merriwick [2] [3] , is a main character in the Hallmark Channel original series, Good Witch . She is a member of the Merriwick family line. Abigail is the daughter of Arthur Pershing and the late Patricia Merriwick. She is the maternal cousin of Cassie Nightingale, Joy Harper, and Grace Russell, and a descendant of the Merriwick line. Grace, at least when she was a child, called her "Auntie Abigail" [4] , despite the fact that Abigail was her mother's cousin. Like most Merriwick women, Abigail possesses unique gifts, which she uses to coyly help people realize their full potential; her methods, however, are notably more elusive than her cousin's. Her guarded persona often affects how she delivers advice or presents her gifts, as opposed to Cassie's open-book personality. Abigail originally moved to Middleton to enact revenge on her cousin after learning that the Merriwick's had property there. She initially butted heads with her good cousin and wasn't afraid to resort to dark magic to get her way. She disliked the small town and refused to partake in events. After learning the truth about Cassie's past, the pair formed a friendship. Abigail befriended Cassie step-daughter, Lori, and they got into mischief together. She would eventually move into Grey House where she was close to Grace, Cassie's daughter. Now, Abigail owns her own business, Abigail's Flowers and Chocolates. She also helps her cousin run Grey House Bed & Breakfast and had a brief stint as the Mayor of Middleton. Abigail and her now-fiance Donovan Davenport were entangled in the centuries-old Merriwick-Davenport Curse. Contents. Biography [ edit | edit source ] Abigail grew up in Greenfield and was primarily raised by her single mother. Abigail's father, Arthur, left them in 1999 when she was thirteen [5] and travelled all around the world on business. Abigail's mother was ill and wrote to Cassie's parents asking them for help. They never responded, and a year after her father left, Abigail's mother died and Abigail went into foster care. She remained bitter over the fact that Cassie's parents never helped her mother and clung to the idea of making it out of foster care one day. She was placed into a foster family presumably in Greenfield, that was loving and kind, but they had little-to-no money. Instead of going to homecoming, Abigail made corsages and sold them to the girls who did go so she could afford to buy a prom dress for later in the year. Her foster parents purchased her a bike and took care of her, however, Abigail dreamed of leaving the home. Abigail moved out of the home when she turned eighteen, only taking a few suitcases with her. The box of mementos that she had kept over the years was left at the last foster home when she moved out. She went to college and got a job in advertising, quickly moving up the ladder in the company and made partner. Years later, Abigail discovered that her remaining family was living in Middleton, after Lori Russell contacted her. Abigail decided to travel to the town to meet them - especially after learning she was behind in her rent. Cassie invited Abigail to stay with her and her family at Grey House, an invite that Abigail graciously accepted. After bonding with Cassie and the rest of her family, Abigail decided to stay in Middleton while the sale of her company was going through. She was especially close to her youngest cousin, Cassie's daughter, Grace. Years later, Abigail opened her store called Abigail's Flower Market and gradually became a prominent member in Middleton society. Throughout Series [ edit | edit source ] The Good Witch Film Series [ edit | edit source ] Good Witch TV Series [ edit | edit source ] She briefly worked as a receptionist for Sam Radford at his office and completely organizes his practice. Despite her hard work, she refused to accept any form of payment for her work. Abigail then quit working with Sam and spent a good amount of time working with Stephanie at the Bistro Café. Abigail began to showcase leadership skills and wanted to become a partner in the business, something Stephanie didn't want to commit too. Due to this, Abigail quit her job at the Bistro to start her own business, a floral company she named, " Abigail's Flower Market ". Abigail struggles with her flower shop and finding her place in the Middleton business community. She also struggles to find friendship in Stephanie and other Middletonians, and bonded with Grace and helped pull Grace out of her shell. She helped Sam Radford pick out an engagement ring for Cassie, and helped Sam to find and put together the Merriwick family ring. In "Tossing the Bouquet", Abigail was forced into the political entanglement of Middleton, when she requested to have a branch in front of her store cut down so her store sign was visible. She had to become a member of the council to vote on this and was then elected President of the Council so she could implement the decision to cut down the branch as soon as possible. In the meantime, Martha's assistant Jared revealed starting information to Martha and the city council. According to Jared, due to the way the border of Middleton and Blairsville runs, Martha is technically a resident of Blairsville, not Middleton. Due to this, Jared was forced to strip Martha's title as Mayor and the duty was passed onto the President of the City Council, Abigail Pershing. Martha moved out of the Mayoral office and Abigail moved in and officially became known as Mayor Pershing. She also purchased Sam's house next door to Grey House, and planned to move into the house after Cassie and Sam's wedding - to give the newlyweds some well- deserved space. Abigail's tumultuous and complicated relationship with Donovan Davenport consumes most of her life. With the Merriwick-Danveport curse looming over them, they face several hardships and setbacks. Though things are initially uncertain when Abigail brings her father's stint in prison up, she is able to remedy things when she gives her blessing for Arthur to marry Josie. When Abigail returns to Grey House she is relieved that Joy has finally admitted to being a Merriwick, claiming her impatience about the girl revealing her secret was the main reason for their discourse. She begins to form a relationship with her cousin, learning how much they have in common. Joy also has the ability to see potential events in her dreams. Abigail begins to think about her dreams and confides in Donovan that she wants to live in Tuscany which creates friction as he wants to move up politically which requires him to stay where he is. Professionally, Abigail finds herself clashing with Martha time and time again. From flowers for Martha's house, which happens to be the heart of the curse plaguing her love life, to benefit planning they can't quite seem to see eye-to-eye. Despite their professional differences, Martha continues to help Abigail solve the Merriwick-Davenport curse. They bring Joy into the curse- breaking which brings the cousins closer as Joy wants to help. Abigail and Donovan continue to search for clues, and their hunt takes them all over Middleton where they are able to discover a mysterious monocle that is actually a cipher. They just have to find another piece that has letters around it that they can decipher. Joy confronts Abigail having had one of her dreams that featured Abigial and Donovan breaking up under a crescent moon. Naturally, her relationship with Donovan has been strained lately so she grows anxious that Joy's dream might come true. The couple is forced to end their relationship when they notice the Heart of Middleton is almost cracked completely through. She continues to discover clues and questionable things that could be connected to the curse. She shares her updates with Donovan who wants to draw her close, but she refuses his advances. They have 200 years' worth of Merriwick history to sift through before they can reconnect. Her breakup with Donovan makes room for her to, surprisingly, grow closer to Donovan's mother, Dottie. Dottie is supportive of the relationship now, having seen how happy Abigail has made Donovan. She admits to having grown quite fond of Abigail and wants to do what she can to keep her and Donovan together. While Abigail struggles with her dilemma with Donovan, seeing as how their relationship shrouded in uncertainty, she throws herself into work. She reconnects with her college friend Jason and realizes she is just lost. Things heat up in Middleton when Abigail begins to clash with Joy's friend Donna, who wants to take Joy out of Middleton for a job in Vermont. Their drama which creates friction in their friend group. However, she reconnects with Stephanie who is also going through relationship troubles, and they are able to commiserate together. When the girls travel to Chicago for a getaway, her drama with Donna comes to a head with the women, especially when Abigail feels as though she has to compete with Abigail for Joy. Cassie tries to rein the women in and remind that what they all mean to one another. The trip takes another turn when Cassie finds out her friend Olympia passed away. Abigail and Joy accompanied Cassie to the memorial out of support as it was important to Cassie that they understand, through Olympia's friends, why her friend meant so much to her. Through Cassie, Abigail is able to calm her simmering nerves about Joy leaving and learn another bit of information about the curse - Olympia was a Connelly. Abigail returns to Middleton with a new perspective on her life and learns that the ruby heart is cracked almost entirely through. They build a crime board in a last effort to break the curse, or they might never be together no matter how desperately they desire to be. He reassures her that he loves her and always will. Abigail and Donovan decide that they are done with the curse and want to enjoy Martha's party at the newly renovated house, even though it is where the curse began. It is there that Sam discovers a final clue in the curse, and the dove Joy's mother left her is connected to the curse. When Joy opens the dove the Middleton Diamond is inside leading Martha to bring the Middleton Treasure box to the anxious couple. They place the diamond inside and the box closes itself, however, Abigail still can't say I Love You. They are about to give up when then the box starts playing, and another drawer opens, containing an engagement ring. It’s the ring Roderick used to propose to Patience. Donovan grabs it and proposes to Abigail. He wants to spend the rest of his life with her and won’t let anything keep them apart. Abigail says, “ yes ” and finally, “ I love you .” Joy smiles stating that this is what happens when a curse finally breaks. Personality [ edit | edit source ] Abigail was originally introduced as a dark and mysterious woman, with a layered past and deep-rooted secrets. She came to Middleton to enact her revenge on Cassie and her family, but once she learned the truth about what happened when the women were both young, she changed her mind. She is a very flirty and outgoing woman, often using her charms to push her agenda and to help someone else. She helps people by pushing them to find their true potential within themselves often by challenging them altogether - while this often makes her and Cassie clash over her methods, no-one can deny that Abigail, much like Cassie, has a gift for solving the unsolveable. Physical Appearance [ edit | edit source ] Abigail is a striking and beautiful young woman in her twenties to early thirties. During the events of "The Good Witch's Family" through the "The Good Witch's Wonder", Abigail had straightened, jet black hair and dark features. She had dark eyebrows, a tall yet slim physique, and fashionable dark clothing. She wore dark eye makeup that accented her deep green eyes and gave her a dark and mysterious vibe. She wore many accessories and wasn't afraid to wear new-age themed jewelry. At the beginning of Starting Over. Again, Abigail had dyed her hair to a lighter shade, making a brown color. She also started curling her hair and wearing it down or in ringlets. Her makeup became more of a natural coloring with a dark ambiance behind it, and her clothing still fashionable but lighter shades of blues and earthy tones. In Season 2, she dyed her hair to a shade of red and began curling it. Later in Season 2, she cut her hair to wear it rested just on her shoulders. In Season 4, she dyed her hair again to a red-brown ombre with blonde highlights near the tips of her hair. Her makeup, however, has remained consistent, with her shifting to multiple shades of matte red lipstick. Gifts [ edit | edit source ] Abigail, like many Merriwick women, has inherited unique gifts of intuition and often gets intense feelings when something is going to happen. She can predict who enters her store, what people are holding, and is very intuitive. While her intuition is slightly different than Cassie's, being darker and colder, she is not a bad person - just not allowing people to enter her bubble unless she truly trusts them, such as Cassie or Grace and, later, Joy and Donovan.
