LOS ANGELES, CA – Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles is pleased to present Holy Lands, a film by Amanda Sthers. This early movie screening will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 7:30pm and will be followed by a Q&A with the director.

This is Amanda Sthers’ third film as a director. The film is inspired by her latest book Holy Lands; a witty, heartwarming, and heart-wrenching epistolary novel, that has become a motion picture starring James Caan, Tom Hollander, Rosanna Arquette and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, about a dysfunctional family -led by a Jewish pig farmer in Israel- struggling to love and accept each other.

Synopsis: Facing a crossroads in life, Harry Rosenmerck (Academy Award nominee James Caan) an Ashkenazy American cardiologist, leaves New York and his family with an unlikely plan to start a pig farm in Israel, angering local communities. His conflict with the town Rabbi, Moshe Cattan (BAFTA award winner Tom Hollander) slowly turns into a friendship that leads him to reevaluate his relationship with his estranged family, including his difficult ex-wife (Rosanna Arquette), his 34-year-old perpetual student daughter (Efrat Dor), and his gay playwright son (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers). Through an emotional journey, this dysfunctional group tries to make their way back to each other, renewing ties when they all need it the most.
