Summer

A delicious, traditional pudding that’s so much more than the sum of its parts! You can use frozen or any soft fruit that’s in season. We suggest you read through the recipe

INGREDIENTS: first. You can get the kids involved by getting them to check they have all the ingredients 400g mixed summer fruit from the list and find the equipment they’ll need. Also make sure hands are washed! 150g caster EQUIPMENT: 6 slices white

You will need:

A medium saucepan

A wooden spoon Clingfilm (or butter!) A 500ml bowl A saucer A serving plate

WHAT TO DO: 1. Put the with the sugar in a large saucepan over a medium heat and let them cook for about 3-5 minutes until the sugar has melted and the juices start to run. Remove from the heat. 2. Line your bowl with enough clingfilm to cover the top too. If you don’t have clingfilm, you can butter the bowl instead! 3. Now line your bowl with the slices of bread (leave one for the top), overlapping them and sealing well by pressing the edges together. Fill any gaps with small pieces of bread so that no juice can get through when you add the fruit. 4. Pour the fruit and most of the juice in – keep a little back to drizzle at the end. Then cover the pudding with another slice of bread and wrap the clingfilm over it. 5. Put a saucer (one that will fit exactly inside the rim of the bowl) on top and then place something that weighs around 1kg on top. Leave in the fridge overnight. 6. Just before serving, turn it out onto a serving dish and spoon the reserved juices all over, soaking any bits of bread that still look white. Enjoy
