NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • 1998-2015 Notes: The 1998, 1999 and 2000 Div. 1 women’s national championships were sponsored by the AWCHA (American Women’s College Hockey Alliance), which at that time helped organize, develop and promote collegiate women’s . The WCHA’s women’s league, founded for the 1999-2000 season, won the 2000 AWCHA Div. 1 National Championship with Minnesota. In August of 2000, the NCAA announced it would begin sponsoring an annual Division 1 Women’s Ice Hockey National Championship and all women’s national champi- onships since have been sponsored by the NCAA.
