“Invest in Malaysia Gateway To ASEAN” Seminar on Investment Opportunities in Malaysia 1 September 2016 Seminar on investment opportunites in Malaysia was organized in conjunction with Malaysia 59th Merdeka celebration. The seminar is a collaboration programme with Bank of China (Boc) Shanghai branch to promote investment opportunites among Chinese market. Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, Mr. Tan Yang Thai has started the program with his remark and followed by a presentation by MIDA headquarters, MARTRADE Shanghai, Immigration Malaysia, BoC, and MM2H representative.

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai organized the National Sports Day 2016 on 8 October 2016. The event was started at 9 am and officiated by Mr. Tan Yang Thai, Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai. Participants were then performing aerobics exercise and walking around the garden.

Newsletter Consulate General of Malaysia Shanghai 9 Malaysia Promotion Programme (MPP) in Shanghai

Malaysia Promotion Programme is a holistic event involving various ministries, agencies, GLCs and corporate based in Malaysia and Shanghai. It is a collaborative and concerted effort through Public-Private Partnership. The one month programme is called Malaysia in Shanghai with the theme CHOOSE MALAYSIA. The program aims to promote Malaysia brand to the Chinese market.

YB Dato’ Sri Ong Ka Chuan, Minister II of International Trade and Industry led the team of officers from MITI, MATRADE and MIDA to Shanghai from 8 to 10 November 2016 for Malaysia promotional events. HE Ambassador, Dato’ Zainuddin Yahya and Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, Mr. Tan Yang Thai were also attended the events. MPP in Shanghai comprising several event as follows:

Newsletter Consulate General of Malaysia Shanghai 11 Visa Requirement for Chinese Citizen by Mohd Khairuddin Musliman, Consul (Immigration)

Citizen of People’s Republic of China (PRC) is subject to visa requirement in order to travel, to seek entry, into Malaysia. Application of visa can be made through following channels:

Visa Malaysia Application Center - In line with the Malaysia Government Economic Transformation Program, Visa Malaysia Application Center by the name of VisaMalaysia have been set up to provide an effective, efficient and secured environment for those going to visit Malaysia. VisaMalaysia is the only Malaysian Visa Application Processing Center in the People’s Republic of China authorized by the Government of Malaysia to receive and process visa applications and distribute passports to applicants. In addition, VisaMalaysia are authorized to collect visa fees on behalf of the Embassy/ Consulate General of Malaysia in China.

Online visa (eVISA) – eVISA is a facility that enables PRC citizen to apply for their Malaysian visa through online. The implementation of eVISA has been started since 1st March 2016. At this moment, eVISA facility shall only apply to a PRC tourist who comes to Malaysia for the purpose of social visit.

Application of visa through VisaMalaysia and eVISA is subject to final approval from Visa Section office.

Newsletter Consulate General of Malaysia Shanghai 12 Visa Waiver Programme

Effective from 1st March to 31st December 2016, Government of Malaysia has decided to waive the visa requirement for PRC tourist who meet the following criteria: a) PRC nationality from China Mainland ONLY excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan; b) Register through Electronic Travel Registration & Information (eNTRI). An eNTRI Note will be issued as proof of the registration and is required to be presented upon arrival in Malaysia; c) Arrived from China Mainland or Singapore; d) Return flight to China Mainland, Singapore or Thailand; e) Duration of stay not more than 15 days; and f) Applicable to a specific Entry Points in Malaysia namely:

i. Kuala Lumpur International Airport, (KLIA & KLIA 2) ii. Bayan Lepas International Airport, Pulau Pinang iii. Senai International Airport, Johor iv. Langkawi International Airport, Kedah v. Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Sabah vi. Kuching International Airport, Sarawak vii. Batu Berendam Airport, viii. Labuan International Airport

Application of eVISA and registration of eNTRI is accessible via www.windowmalaysia.my

Possession of a valid visa or eNTRI note does not guarantee entry into Malaysia. Visitor must also meet the following requirements at the Malaysia entry exit points: a) Hold a passport with at least 6 month validity; b) Have sufficient funds for the period of stay in Malaysia; and c) Have confirmed onward/return air ticket(s).
