Good afternoon and welcome to Frimley Green Recreation Ground for today’s match in the Cherry Red Combined Counties League Division One. Our opponents on this occasion are Bagshot FC and we extend a warm welcome to their Players, Officials and supporters and trust that they enjoy their visit.

Bagshot FC is again struggling this season with 8 points from their first 13 games having won 2 and drawn 2 and are currently in 16th place.

We visited Bagshot FC last month and won 2-3 with 2 goals from Louis Hibbert and a Sam Hamer penalty after Bag- shot had led 2-0 at half time. We will be looking to get back to winning ways today after last Saturday’s disappointing result.

Next Saturday we visit Epsom & Ewell in the League.

Our recent record against Bagshot FC: Season 2016/17 Home Lost 2-3 (Horkan, Dearlove) Away Lost 2-0 Season 2017/18 Home Won 7-0 (Bowerman 3, McKinlay 2, Dos Santos, Kemp) Away Won 0-2 (Kellet-Smith, Hamer) Season 2018/19 Home Today Away Won 2-3 ( Hibbert 2, Hamer) Hello and welcome to the Recreation Ground for today’s game v Bagshot, and welcome to all playing staff, club offi- cials and supporters, I hope you enjoy your visit with us today These are my first notes of the season, so I’ll apologise for the essay now, but thank you for reading. It’s been a great start for Frimley in this 2018/2019 season, the first 11 league games went unbeaten however this run came to end recently away to Fleet Spurs in what can only be described as a tired looking performance, perhaps the 120 minutes in the cup on the Tuesday took to much out of the lads as we just never got going. We now look at the players to take the result in their stride and look to go on another run. It was a great delight to see so many of last years squad return for another season, stability is key and having only lost 2 players, the managers had really done well to keep the group together and this can be seen with the great at- mosphere around the club, not even just on matchdays. We were also able to welcome some solid additions. One of the things we lacked last season was a quality squad all round, so far this season, with the likes of Callum Nimmo, Cyrus Vanterpool, Tony Trinder, Leo Medrado, to name a few, coming in, the squad depth is incomparable to last seasons and we’ve seen already this season even with 6 or 7 missing, we’ve had cover to get results, something we desperately lacked in 2017/2018. How far can we go this season? We can only wait and see, but if we can keep our high levels of performances going, there’s no reason we can’t be fighting up the top end to see where we are come May. Off the field, we’ve continued to refurbish the ground, new ladies’ toilets, new windows, doors etc, lots still to do, but everything takes time and we’ll continue with the work over the upcoming months. We were also delighted to wel- come the Frimley Nest daytime nursery to the club, it’s great to see our function hall being used during the week, something that was key for me when I took over as Chairman and although it’s taking a while, we’re already seeing the benefits. Another thing that has drastically improved this season are the home attendances, we’ve welcomed some new sup- porters this season and had a really good couple of attendances the past few games, thank you to all those that have visited. I hope after todays game, we have another 3 points on the board, but I’d like to wish both sides an enjoyable afternoon. Kind regards

Matt Chairman Welcome to today’s league match against Bagshot FC . Welcome to all our guests today, firstly the match officials, the travelling ground hoppers & supporters. I hope you enjoy the hospitality today. The opposite managers are no strangers to Frimley both previously here before with Phil Ruggles here as manager & Simon here under myself and Cooky for a brief spell. Last time out vs Bagshot we secured the 3 points which in reflection was harsh on Bagshot being 2-0 up but feel we was worthy of the points in the end going on chances, possession and character. We expect another tough encounter today and won’t be taking the local derby lightly. Bagshot have picked up a few points over the last few weeks and strengthening there squad each week. In reflection to the season so far myself, Cooky & the coaching staff are pleased with the start we have had especially compared to the start we had last season but there’s always room for improvement. In some of the games we have dominated and won convincingly and others we haven’t been at the races but we’ve learnt our lessons from the previous season and dug in to win games or take a point as where before we may not have, Which is credit to the squad and the coaching staff who work tirelessly each week and never give up until the final whistle. 12 league games & 7 cup games have been and gone during this period and I have to say it has definitely been an extremely busy period with a game most Tuesday night’s, this has resulted in our squad being tested to the limits. During those 14 games I can only really think about one stand out performance that disappoints me - Fleet Spurs away last Saturday. We lacked everything Saturday, there was no want & desire, we lacked creativity and wasn’t clinical in front of goal when chances fell to us. Every game is a battle and you need to earn the right to play football, no team will roll over for you. But that said we don’t dwell on it and look to bounce back today and put that behind us & look for a reaction. During that period we have picked up some good wins, especially teams below and around us currently; we have also taken points off of sides above us. We have had some good hard fought cup wins during this period, notably our run which always helps the club with money and some good days out for the boys and the committee and supporters. We’ve had to go to extra time twice already in cup games this season with a good away win vs Raynes Park Vale on penalties and a solid display last Tuesday against a very competitive Dorking Wanderers side who sit in 2nd spot in the league. Squad wise; you may have seen we were able to bring in a few signings – Callum Nimmo joins us who will be a good addition to our already strong squad. Chris Harris who has joined us on duel reg from Hartley Wintney who comes with step 3 & 4 experience. We still have a few players on the injury list which we hope to welcome back in the coming weeks along with a few suspensions and also holidays. 2 players that most likely won’t be back until next season will be Nick Thumbwood which is a real blow due to snapping his Achilles in the fa cup game & James Dinsdale who had to have another operation. Both players are still coming to training and games every week which is a massive plus it shows the bond and togetherness all the lads have together which is something you can’t buy. We wish both a speedy recovery We do have strong competition for places now, and our squad is almost where we want it to be; what we need now is a run of consistency; this will enable us to pick a regular squad of 16, and allow players to form partnerships across the pitch. The league has been once again indifferent with everyone taking points off of each other. Only 7 points separate 7th place and 1st place with teams having 1 or 2 games in hand. We are certainly continuing to look up this year and believe we are capable of putting a run of results together to make a challenge come the end of may. I would also like to take this time to thank both coaches and gk coach as these can be the most important part to play through the season which doesn’t go un missed by myself or cooky. Thank you for all your continued support to the regular fans that come home and away the management and players appreciate it. Dalts Joint First Team Manager The club was established in 1919 and won the Junior Cup in 1927–28. They later joined the Surrey Intermediate League, and after winning back-to-back titles in 1958–59 and 1959–60, they joined the Surrey Senior League. The step up proved difficult and the club initially struggled in the new league, finishing bottom in 1962–63. However, the late 1960s saw several top-half finishes. After finishing bottom of the league again in 1973–74, the club joined the Spartan League. When it merged with the Metropolitan–London League in 1975 to form the London Spartan League, the club were placed in Division Two. They were promoted to Division One at the end of the 1975–76 season.

In 1977 Division One became the Premier Division, and Frimley Green remained in the division until being relegated to the Senior Division in 1979–80. After one season in the Senior Division the club transferred to the Western Division of the Combined Counties League. At the end of their first season in the league it was reduced to a single division. The club won the league's Elite Cup in 1990–91, but left the league after finishing bottom of the table in 1993–94, returning to the Surrey Intermediate League. They won the League Cup in 1998–99, also finishing as league runners-up, earning promotion to the Surrey County Senior League. The club finished as runners-up in the Surrey County Senior League in 2001–02 and were promoted back to the Combined Counties League.

The league gained a second division in 2003, with Frimley Green becoming members of the Premier Division. However, they were relegated to Division One at the end of the 2005–06 season. The club were Division One champions in 2012–13 and were promoted back to the Premier Division. However, after finishing bottom of the division in 2014–15, they were relegated to Division One again.

Myself and Scott Sanders took on the Reserve's at the end of last season. Our main objective was building stability and being able to get a squad out for the final 5 games. We did that and got a couple of good results along the way. This season, although results haven't gone our way, we are learning game by game. We have an extremely young team but they are committed and dedicated, which is demonstrated each week in training and on match days alike. Completing the team we also have experienced, promising players such as Kristian Cumberbatch, Deian Jones, Jamie Kemp and Martin Bolstridge, who have all made 1st team appearances. We have secured a few draws this season and on Saturday finally won our first game with a 2-1 victory over Ash Utd, despite having a small squad and going 1-0 down! Lawrence Chiswell scored the equaliser with a cracking half volley, followed by 17 year old Jack Dixon (Goalkeeper), who came off the bench to score a 35 yarder in the last 5 minutes! Credit to all the lads so far this season and we look forward to our upcoming cup match away to Horsley Reserves. By Ross Walker

George Bowerman in action vs Cove [19.09.18] Going into the fixture, there were high hopes of coming away with 3 points. What looked to be our strongest available squad, unfortunately didn’t transpire onto the field during this tough encounter. The previous Tuesday a strong selection was made for our cup game against Dorking Wanderers Reserves and after 120 minutes, we made it through to the next round, but perhaps at a cost. The first half in this game with Fleet Spurs, was a mixed opening 45 minutes for Frimley. We never looked to get comfortable on the ball and to many passes were misplaced. We did have our chances though and could have had a couple of goals ourselves, but likewise Fleet Spurs also hit the post on one occasion too. Second half, the opening 15 minutes saw the Frimley we’ve seen so far this season, fast, strong, direct and with purpose, plenty of chances to go ahead but we just couldn’t put the ball away. Spurs caught us on the counter for their first, followed up by a fantastic 30+ yard freekick from Spurs Hattrick hero Tom Chillery. It wasn’t all spurs at this point though, Frimley had chances to get back into the game, Horkan, Rayhan, Dearlove all had efforts, Dearlove potentially having the easiest of those, but it was clear that it was one of those days where nothing went right, but everything went wrong. Spurs made it 3 then 4 whilst Frimley kept shooting, but not sticking it in the back of the net. Overall 0-4 was justified, as they say, if you don’t score you can’t win, and spurs certainly showed that if you don’t score against them, they will always be a danger despite their league position as showed recently against teams around us. We move on though, we look to put the negatives behind us and take the positives, which despite the result, we showed even when not playing well, we still created…. But we’ve got to start scoring.

Selection Harris (GK), Jones, Ward, Trinder, Rayhan, Horkan, Hamer, Vanterpool, McKinlay, Bowerman, Medrado . League Two Lincoln City 1 (Tom Pett) Crewe Alexandra 0 Attendance: 8,718 Sincil Bank A whole week has passed since my last game! It has been a quiet week, due to the fact that I have been under the weather and didn’t fancy standing out in the cold. I was also aware that I had to drive north this weekend and I want- ed to feel better to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Dad and I have done countless Crewe Alexandra away days, so it was only fitting that we did one for his birthday. I was able to get free tickets (thanks to my good pal and Lincoln midfielder Michael O’Connor) and dad paid for the supporter’s bus (maybe I should have paid for that… whoops!). I was also O’Connor’s birthday. Since starting his career at Crewe, I have kept in touch and seen him play at all of his subsequent clubs, Scunthorpe United, Rotherham United, Port Vale and Notts County*. *I went to county twice last season, but he was injured so technically I never saw him play for the Magpies but did go to visit on two occasions. So off we went for our first Crewe game of the season, or second if you include a pre-season friendly up at Altrin- cham in July. The bus left around 10:30 and due to some roadworks and closures we went straight to the ground, arriving just before 2pm. The bus was less than half full and despite the player’s coach leaving directly behind us at the carpark, they somehow beat us to the ground! The bus had all the usual faces. Dad has used the bus far more than I have in the past five years or so, but it is always a nice atmosphere, everyone talking football and anticipating what may meet us at our end destination. Crewe this season have been far from impressive. In the league David Artell’s men have picked up zero points on the road and scored just once away from home. Lincoln, on the other hand, are riding high at the top of the league so the result reflected the league standings. Crewe, with the exception of one game, haven’t lost by more than one goal on the road so their hard-to-beat defence was nearly good enough again against Lincoln. The Game Lincoln continued their reign at the top of League Two with a narrow 1-0 win over bottom-half Crewe Alexandra. Tom Pett scored within a minute of coming on in the second half and the Imps were able to hold on despite saving Lee Frecklington’s penalty with six minutes remaining. It was a tough afternoon for both sides and fortune usually favour the in-form team and it was no different today with the Imps as picked up their ninth win of the season. The first half saw much of the ball bogged down in the midfield and there was little to separate the two sides. Lincoln were pressing and probing throughout and a cross from Neal Eardley had to be dealt with at the back post by Corey Whelan who headed out for a corner. Ben Garratt made the save of the game to deny Harry Anderson from point-blank range, saving an almost impossible save. Former Railwayman and Northern Ireland international Michael O’Connor had delivered a decent free kick into the box and as Chris Porter inadvertently headed towards his own goal, Garratt scrambled across the goal line to block out Anderson. Lincoln managed to break the deadlock just before the hour mark. Former Stevenage midfielder Pett had been on a matter of minutes when his volley squirmed out of the grasp of Garratt and over the line. Lincoln’s first cross had been blocked at the near post by George Ray with the ball looping up in the air. John Akinde then beat Perry Ng to the first header, before Frecklington outjumped James Jones and the ball sat up for Pett to volley into the bottom cor- ner. Crewe pressed for an equaliser but couldn’t add to the their one away goal this season, despite Whelan going close with a shot from 25-yards that Josh Vickers did well to palm away. At the other end, Garratt was back to spectacular saves when he was at full stretch to deny Bruno Andrade from distance. The hosts were getting closer to a second and they were given a helping hand when Andrade got the better of Kevin O’Connor who tangled with the Imps wide man just inside the area and referee pointed straight to the spot. However, Frecklington’s well-placed penalty was matched by Garratt who guessed the right way and managed to hold on to the ball. Buoyed by the lifeline of the penalty saved, Crewe went close to pulling off an unlikely draw as George Ray saw his header blocked. The Imps were holding on and Vickers had to punch clear only to save the rebounded shot by Whelan before the ball was eventually scrambled clear. 2018/19 Games: 29 2018/19 Grounds: 26 Total Grounds Visited: 231 (61)
