Joining Instructions for Delegates

Please find below notes for delegates attending the forthcoming RRC Annual Network Conference Wed 26th – Fri 28th April 2006 Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.

Getting There

Please refer to directions and maps on pages 4, 5 and 6.

On Arrival

Car Parking - On arrival at Heriot-Watt University please park in the main visitors car park, situated to the right of the main avenue into the campus.

Residential Delegates

Arrivals - Please book into your accommodation at Visitor Reception in the James Watt Centre. Your key will be available for collection from 14.00 onwards on the day of arrival. James Watt Centre Reception is open 24hours.

Departures – Guest are asked to vacate their room by 10.00 and return their key to reception on the morning of departure. There will be a £20 charge for any bedroom key not returned to reception by 11.00 on the morning of departure, if a key has not been returned by noon a full accommodation charge will apply.

Luggage may be left temporarily in the baggage room at James Watt Centre Reception.

Day Delegates – please follow directions to the James Watt Centre as above and register with the RRC staff.

Registration

Registration for both residential and day delegates Wed 26thApril will be from 09:10 at the entrance to the James Watt Centre. Coffee will be served from 09.10 onwards in the Main Hall but please ensure you register first. For day delegates on Thurs 27th April, registration will be available from 08.50 until 09:00.

Delegate packs will include Final Programme, Speaker and Poster Summaries, Delegate List, Workshop Lists.

Speakers / Session Chairs

After you have registered please ensure that you speak to Jenny Mant prior to the start of events. Please sit near the front of the conference room so that you can take your place at the top table for your session.

Trade Stands / Poster Presentations

After you have registered please speak to Alice Fellick before erecting stands or placing posters. Alice will help you find a space that will be nearest to the tea/coffee/lunch sessions for viewing. If you require floor space please let Alice know in advance and see her on arrival.

Breakfast Times & Location

Breakfast will be served in the Middle Floor Dining Room from 07.30 – 09.00

Evening Meal on Wednesday 26th April

If you have booked a place on the evening meal (inclusive for 2 day residential delegates) you have the opportunity to use the James Watt Centre II bar which will be open from 18.30 onwards. Please make your way to the Main Dining Room at 19:30 for a 19:45 sit down. Wine & beverages may be purchased from the bar to accompany your meal or you can use the waitress service which will be available. The bar will remain open until 01.00.

Friday Site Visit to the River Tummel 28th April

Those attending the site visit should make sure they return to the main auditorium after the workshops end on the Thursday. Information regarding the visit and arrangements for the Thursday evening will be discussed.

Delegates who have booked the site visit should assemble near the Playing Fields which are located behind Reception by 09.15 Friday; please note the coach will leave 09:30. A packed lunch will be provided. It is essential that you wear your WELLINGTON BOOTS (walking boots will mean wet feet!) and suitable outdoor clothing (waterproofs if necessary). The coach is scheduled to return at approximately 16.00 to the campus. Please take this into account when arranging your homeward journey.

There is a gym on site so should you wish to use this facility do remember to bring some kit with you.
