12 | Polonaise SPECIAL 2020 COMPETITION ISSUE Achievement Award One of the most exciting moments for the Chopin Foundation this year was being told that we would be the recipient of the 2020 MTNA Achievement Award. Our professional partnership with the Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) is vital to the mission of the Chopin Foundation. As an organization that empowers music teachers nationwide to become better educators through networking, leadership, mentoring and educational opportunities, MTNA’s members represent the wellspring of inspiration and guidance that young American pianists need to grow and develop. For MTNA to bestow its highest honor on the Chopin Foundation as an entity that makes significant and lasting contributions to the music teaching profession was deeply meaningful for the Foundation and especially, to Lady Blanka Rosenstiel, our Founder and President. “To have a nationally recognized professional organization like MTNA believe in the Chopin Foundation’s mission is for me a confirmation that my vision to support young American pianists in their pursuit of professional careers is as important today as it was 45 years ago.” said Lady Blanka. Mrs. Rosenstiel was also personally honored with the MTNA Citation for Leadership.

Music Teachers National Association Citation for Leadership Lady Blanka Rosenstiel In recognition of your extraordinary leadership and vision in founding and nurturing the Chopin Foundation of the United States. Since establishing the prestigious U.S. Chopin Competition in 1975, countless lives have been touched, inspired and enriched; the international careers of numerous talented, young pianists have been advanced; and the music of Fryderyk Chopin has been spread and celebrated across the country. Your life and work are a lasting legacy to all that is good and honorable in music and philanthropy in the U.S. and around the world.
