Mai 2015 – SmartCast, einer der führenden Broadcast Service-Provider für Europa sowie arabische und asiatische TV-Märkte, übernimmt die technischen Serviceleistungen für das Playout der RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network zur Programmverbreitung auf den Philippinen. RTL CBS Asia Network wurde im August 2013 gegründet und vereint als neuerer Player auf dem asiatischen TV-Markt zwei der größten Inhalteanbieter weltweit unter einem Dach: Die RTL Group als Europas führender Entertainment-Anbieter sowie CBS Studios International, führender Programmanbieter für internationale Märkte. Die Programmangebote von RTL CBS Asia werden auf über 20 asiatischen TV-Märkten in HDTV verbreitet. Zu den Inhalten gehören u.a. Produktionen der FremantleMedia, dem Content-Zulieferer der RTL Group, sowie Senderformate der CBS mit über 70.000 Programmstunden für das Fernsehen. „Der asiatische Markt gehört zu den äußerst dynamischen Regionen, gekennzeichnet durch intensiven Wettbewerb auf dem Pay-TV-Markt“, erklärte Christian Brenner, CEO der SmartCast GmbH in Unterföhrung und der SmartCast Asia Ltd in Hongkong. „Wir freuen uns, dass RTL CBS zur Verbreitung seiner Programme für den TV-Markt der Philippinen der langjährigen und internationalen Expertise der SmartCast vertraut.“ Mit Niederlassungen und Büros rund um den Globus stellt die SmartCast Broadcast- Lösungen für aktuell mehr als 120 TV-Programme weltweit bereit. Die End-to-End-Services aus einer Hand umfassen sowohl Software und Hardware als auch 24 x 7 Monitoring im unternehmenseigenen Network Operation Center, Speicherlösungen, Planungssoftware, Untertitelungslösungen, Services für Audio, Ad Insertion und OTT. Auf dem asiatischen Markt ist SmartCast mit operativen Betriebszentren aktiv für AsiaSat, ABS, APT, GlobeCast, NOW TV (Hongkong), SingTel und ST Teleport (Singapur), Thaicom und CTH (Thailand), Indovision (Indonesien) sowie ABNxcess (Malaysia). Zu den weiteren asiatischen TV-Kunden gehören FIC, Outdoor Channel und Cinema World. Das Unternehmen betreibt weltweit 54 dezentralisierte Playout Center, davon 14 in Asien, sowie über 70 Signalübergabestellen. Die Network Operation Center (NOC) befinden sich am Firmenstammsitz in München-Unterföhring und in Bangkok. Am Unternehmenssitz in Hongkong betreibt SmartCast ein Downlink- Center, die Software-Entwicklung des Service-Providers befindet sich in Bangkok. Das weltweite Kundenportfolio umfasst aktuell rund 120 TV-Stationen für Playout-Services, davon in 31 Asien, die alleine in den vergangenen drei Jahren gewonnen werden konnten. Sowohl Broadcast-Management als auch Playout werden über eine selbstentwickelte, hochspezialisierte Software realisiert. Auf dem deutschen Markt gehören ProSiebenSat.1, AstroTV sowie Red Bull Media House, die Deutsche Telekom, Media Broadcast und die BLM zum Kundenstamm. Im asiatischen Markt bedient SmartCast zum Beispiel Fox International Channel, ApStar, AsiaSat und Thaicom. Technische Basis des in Unterföhring ansässigen Hightech Broadcast-Providers ist ein eigenes, nationales und internationales Netzwerk an Playout Centern, das sich durch extreme Flexibilität und Erweiterungsfähigkeit auszeichnet.
