Superman: Identity by Bubble

>>BD On the occasion of the publication of : Creature of the Night, Kurt Busiek's latest masterpiece (to which we'll come back very soon), Urban Comics brings out in its Black Label collection the : Secret Identity tale. The collection, intended to collect the stories of authors who have been out of DC Comics for the past three years, also serves to put back in a beautiful box the stories that could be in it today. Ideal for us to take another look at it.

At the beginning of the project, there is a love at first sight for a singular character: Prime. The idea is simple: on a "Prime Land", where superheroes, as in our reality, only exist in the imagination and in the pages of comic books, a young discovers that he has superpowers, like the hero of his favourite comic books. So there will be no talk of super villains, demented confrontations, cosmic cataclysms.

Kurt Busiek takes a step back from Clark Kent, who unintentionally becomes a Superman, and questions a lifetime spent being special. The vagaries of adolescence, a romantic encounter, a family life, or falling prey to a government that would only see you as a threat. Not without a good dose of heroism, Busiek prefers reflection, personal questioning within an intimate story, in which each person must be able to build a relationship with his or her own secret identity. The text is simple, powerful, and works on the theme of Superman from a new angle, sixteen years after its initial publication. by Arno Kikoo
