Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)

You hear me when I call, You are my morning song; Though darkness fills the night it cannot hide the light. Whom shall I fear? Verse 2 You crush the enemy underneath my feet. You are my sword and shield though troubles linger still. Whom shall I fear?

Chorus I know Who goes before me. I know Who stands behind; The God of angel armies is always by my side. The One who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine; The God of angel armies is always by my side.

Verse 3 My strength is in Your name, for You alone can save. You will deliver me; Yours is the victory. Whom shall I fear? Whom shall I fear? Chorus

Bridge And nothing formed against me shall stand; You hold the whole world in Your hands. I'm holding on to Your promises. You are faithful, You are faithful. You are faithful.

[Women] I know Who goes before me. I know Who stands behind; The God of angel armies is always by my side. [All] The One Who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine; The God of angel armies is always by my side.

Chorus 2 I know Who goes before me. I know Who stands behind; The God of angel armies is always by my side. The One who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine; The God of angel armies is always by my side. The God of angel armies is always by my side.

The sign of the cross may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.

Invocation In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Confession and Absolution If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

[Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination.]

Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer of the Day Almighty and eternal God, Your Son Jesus triumphed over the prince of demons and freed us from bondage to sin. Help us to stand firm against every assault of Satan, and enable us always to do Your will; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Old Testament Reading Genesis 3:8–15

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" He answered, "I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid." And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?" The man said, "The woman You put here with me — she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it." Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

Epistle 2 Corinthians 4:13—5:1 It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

Holy Gospel Mark 3:20–35 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that He and His disciples were not even able to eat. When His family heard about this, they went to take charge of Him, for they said, "He is out of His mind." And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons He is driving out demons." So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit." Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call Him. A crowd was sitting around Him, and they told Him, "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for You." "Who are My mother and My brothers?" He asked. Then He looked at those seated in a circle around Him and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! Whoever does God's will is My brother and sister and mother."

Victor's Crown

You are always fighting for us, Heaven's angels all around. My delight is found in knowing That You wear the victor's crown; You're my help and my defender, You're my Saviour and my friend; By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You.

Verse 2 At the mention of Your greatness, In Your Name I will bow down; In Your Presence fear is silent, For You wear the victor's crown; Let Your glory fill this temple, Let Your power overflow; By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You.

Chorus Hallelujah. You have overcome; You have overcome; Hallelujah, Jesus, You have overcome the world.

Verse 3 You are ever interceding As the lost become the found; You can never be defeated, For You wear the victor's crown; You are Jesus, the Messiah, You're the Hope of all the world. By Your grace I live and breathe to worship You. Chorus

Bridge [twice] Ev'ry high thing must come down; Ev'ry stronghold shall be broken; You wear the victor's crown; You overcome, You overcome.

Verse 4 At the cross the work was finished, You were buried in the ground; But the grave could not contain You, For You wear the victor's crown!

Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen.

Blessing for Graduates

Prayers

Lord's Prayer Lord, remember us in Your kingdom and teach us to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Words of Institution Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: “Take, eat; this is My T body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me.” In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: “Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My T blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Your Grace Finds Me

It's there in the newborn cry, there in the light of ev'ry sunrise, There in the shadows of this life: Your great grace. It's there on the mountain top, there in the ev'ryday and the mundane, There in the sorrow and the dancing: Your great grace, O such grace.

Chorus From the creation to the cross, there from the cross into eternity Your grace finds me, Yes, Your grace finds me.

Verse 2 It's there on a wedding day, there in the weeping by the graveside, There in the very breath we breathe: Your great grace. The same for the rich and poor, the same for the saint and for the sinner, Enough for this whole wide world: Your great grace, O such grace.

Chorus 2 From the creation to the cross, there from the cross into eternity Your grace finds me, Yes, Your grace finds me. There in the darkest night of the storm, there in the sweetest songs of victory, Your grace finds me, yes, Your grace finds me.

Bridge Your great grace, O such grace. Your great grace, O such grace. End So I'm breathing in Your grace and breathing out Your praise. I'm breathing in Your grace. Forever, I'll be: breathing in Your grace and breathing out Your praise. I'm breathing in Your grace. Forever, I'll be. Yes, Your grace finds me; Yes, Your grace finds me.

East To West

Here I am Lord, and I'm drowning In Your sea of forgetfulness The chains of yesterday surround me, I yearn for peace and rest. I don't want to end up where You found me, and it echoes in my mind Keeps me awake tonight.

Verse 2 I know You've cast my sin as far as The east is from the west. And I stand before You now as though I've never sinned But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away from You leaving me this way.

Chorus Jesus can You show me just how Far the east is from the west, 'Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been rising up in me again. In the arms of Your mercy I find rest, 'Cause You know just how far the east is from the west-- From one scarred hand to the other.

Verse 3 I start the day, the war begins, endless reminding of my sin. And time and time again Your truth is drowned out by the storm I'm in. But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away From You leaving me this way. Chorus

Bridge I know You've washed me white, turned my darkness into light I need Your peace to get me through, to get me through this night. I can't live by what I feel about the truth Your word reveals, I'm not holding on to You, but You're holding on to me. You're holding on to me. Chorus 2 Jesus, You know just how Far the east is from the west, And I don’t have to be the man I've been rising up in me again. In the arms of Your mercy I find rest, 'Cause You know just how far the east is from the west-- From one scarred hand to the other.
