*Computed using the BCa bootstrap method described by Efron and Tibishirani (1993) **Hypothesis testing in Attachment 1 shows statistically significant decreases for this BMP category. ***Hypothesis testing in Attachment 1 shows statistically significant increases for this BMP category. Note: Effluent median values in green indicate the effluent medians are statistically determined to be significantly lower than the influent medians, based on non-overlapping confidence intervals. Effluent values in red bold italics indicate the effluent medians are greater than the influent medians. Values with no color emphasis indicate no significant difference could be determined between the influent and effluent median concentrations.

Urban Agricultural BMP Agricultural Stormwater BMPs Runoff Database Clean Water Characterization Act Goals Fishable & Stream Restoration Swimmmable Database
National Stormwater Quality Database
What is the BMP Database?
A collection of water quality data from stormwater sites and BMP performance studies with metadata on site conditions and design parameters
Includes National Stormwater Quality Database, Urban BMP Database, Agricultural BMP Database, and the Stream Restoration Database (coming soon)
Researchers submit data to a clearinghouse for review prior to acceptance to the master database
Data and project findings are publically available through www.bmpdatabase.org

The Problem (1994 and Now)
Widespread use of BMPs without sufficient understanding of performance and factors leading to performance
Inconsistent data reporting methods limit scientific comparison/evaluation of studies
Differences in monitoring strategies and data evaluation methods result in wide range of reported “effectiveness” (e.g. – to + percent removals)

Conclusions The BMP Database is a steadily growing source of information related to BMP performance that can support multiple water quality planning efforts.
The BMP Database contains over 100 manufactured device performance studies.
Opportunities exist for updating reporting and analysis protocols for manufactured devices.
The overall BMP Database project is evolving into a multi-faceted resource with BMP performance information for urban, agricultural and stream restoration practices.
