E MMANUEL F R A N C O - The Mexican baritone Emmanuel Franco has been celebrated as a young complete artist, with outstanding acting skills and a splendid and bright voice. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and his Master’s degree in Performance from the Dutch National Opera Academy. In 2018 he made his debut at – Belcanto Opera Festival, performing the roles of Buralicchio in L’equivoco stravagante with José Miguel Pérez-Sierra and il Gran Sacerdote in , under the baton of Gianluigi Gelmetti. In July 2019 he has been invited back in Wildbad for and Meyerbeer’s Romilda e Costanza . From 2015 to 2017 Emmanuel Franco was a resident artist at the Opéra Studio of Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg, performing the roles of Le Marchand Ambulant and the Dwarf Pic in Blanche- Neige, Der Zweiter Nazarener in Salome , Bruschino Padre in , Figaro in Paisiello’s Il barbiere di Siviglia , Le Fou in a new production of Cendrillon , Il Gran Sacerdote in Idomeneo , Slook in La cambiale di matrimonio, and one of the Deputati Fiamminghi in the new Robert Carsen’s production of Don Carlo, under the baton of Daniele Callegari. Some career highlights in Europe during past seasons have included his debut at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, performing Il Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro , Belcore in L’elisir d’amore in Pamplona under the baton of Matteo Beltrami, the title role of in Sulmona (Italy), Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Residentie Orkest, Junius in The rape of Lucretia and Andrea Coclé in Die Stumme Serenade with the Dutch National Opera Academy. In Mexico Emmanuel sang Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore , Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia with Tijuana Opera. He performed Ping in and Manuel in La vida breve in the United States with West Bay Opera. He also sang the roles of Jupiter in Orphée aux enfers , and the title role of Gianni Schicchi with the Orchestra of San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Concert highlights include Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen , with the OFECH Philarmonic Orchestra and Carmina Burana with the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra. His latest performances include Rossini’s at Royal Opera Festival in Krakov, the world premier of La Cucina by Andrew Synnott at Wexford Festival Opera, Matilde di Shabran (Aliprando) and Meyerbeer’s Romilda e Costanza (Albertone) at Rossini in Wildbad – Belcanto Opera Festival; Rossini gala in Forlì with Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini; L’elisir d’amore (Belcore) in Mexico and at Auditorio Fundacion Baluarte in Pamplona; L’equivoco stravagante (Buralicchio) at Rossini in Wildbad Festival and in Bulgary; The rape of Lucretia (Junius) in Budapest and in Den Haag; Il Signor Bruschino (Bruschino Padre) at Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg. His next projects are La scala di seta , Auber’s Le philtre and Manuel Garcia’s I tre gobbi at Rossini in Wildbad – Belcanto Opera Festival.
