TV5MONDE, the world's leading French-language channel, and Ubisoft, the world leader in video game creation and publishing, have joined forces to enable non-French-speaking young people from around the world to learn French through the world of video games. Based on excerpts from Assassin's Creed, an internationally renowned video game created by Ubisoft, TV5MONDE will produce educational worksheets for teaching French as a foreign language to students between 15 and 17 years of age. Teenagers will travel through time and relive the great moments of history, while learning the French language.

From a media education and entertainment perspective, they will also be asked to identify a certain number of features of video games: a typical hero's profile, mixture of reality and fiction, etc. These video resources, which are completely unprecedented in terms of French language learning, once again demonstrate the innovative nature of TV5MONDE's instructional approach when it comes to learning and teaching French.

"TV5MONDE is delighted with this new partnership with Ubisoft and to be able to add the video game Assassin's Creed to its educational platform... The channel's expertise in teaching French using original and authentic media has gained a new dimension with this video game, which provides both content and an environment that will increase the interest in learning French," says Yves Bigot, Managing Director of TV5MONDE.

"Ubisoft is proud to partner with TV5MONDE and to put its iconic video game Assassin's Creed at the service of French-language learning for non-native French speakers around the world. We believe that when students engage in hands-on learning and actively engage with a real moment in history, as the Assassin's Creed game allows them to do, it creates both a deeper and more enjoyable learning experience," says Deborah Papiernik, Senior Vice President, New Business Development, Technology and Strategic Alliances at Ubisoft.
