MATERIALS

CORK FABRIC

OUTSIDE 17” long x 13½” wide rectangle INSIDE (can be the same as outside or different) 17” long x 13½” wide rectangle Buy good quality cork. Use cork with a matte or dull finish. Do not use metallic cork or cork with a shiny finish, as ironing may dull the finish. Test a small piece of cork before starting.

INTERFACING Fusible Web on Release 20” wide 1 yard We recommend Bosal’s Splendid Web on Release Paper 20” x 36” (Item #445-2) COORDINATED THREAD For machine , use a 50 weight thread. Or for stitching that really stands out use a 28 weight or even a 12 weight thread. Most of our samples were made with 12 weight thread.

EMBELLISHMENTS Four buttons (2 outside and 2 inside) or more if you want to layer your buttons. Silk Ribbon or heavy thread to attach the buttons. Try River Silks ribbon in 4mm or 13mm widths and Chenille needles size 18

Other Tools: Parchment paper or Teflon ironing sheet. Freezer paper or heavy paper 17” x 14”. Iron. Frixion pen or chalk for marking. Sewing machine, Microtex 90/14 machine needles or Janome Purple Tip needles. Very sharp scissors - we recommend Karen Kay Buckley’s Medium or Large scissors. Clover Wonder Clips, pins, small awl, rubber needle puller, rotary mat, acrylic rulers, rotary cutter.
