Interview with Paul Jones by Gianni Franchi, May 2016
Interview with Paul Jones by Gianni Franchi, May 2016 SB: The first news that I've found about your career see you as a young harmonica player hangin' around London blues clubs with Brian Jones. Can you tell us something about those times? PJ: I was more of a singer than harmonica-player in those days; I had a job singing with a dance- band. I had bought a harmonica after hearing Junior Wells playing on a T-Bone Walker track – but I couldn’t get anywhere near the sounds Junior was making. Brian showed me how to play ‘cross- harp’, or as it’s called these days, 2nd position. SB: How did you learn to play the harmonica, how you did you passionate about blues music, and who was your favourite harp player ? PJ: I had been a jazz enthusiast since I was 14, but after hearing Lonnie Donegan’s record of ‘Rock Island Line’, I quickly became immersed in the blues – the more you hear, the more you love. Once Brian’s lesson had sunk in to my thinking, I listened to all harmonica blues, and Muddy Waters’ harpman at the time, James Cotton, became my favourite. But the more I studied, the more I loved and followed the great Little Walter – with Sonny Boy Williamson II close behind. SB: In 1962 you became the singer and harp player of the Manfred Mann , a fantastic band that mixed blues, R & B with jazz instrumental songs. What can you tell us about that experience and why at a certain point you decided to leave the band? PJ: People never ask why I joined those guys in the first place – only why I left. -

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Musicals
MASARYK UNIVERSITY Faculty of Education Department of English Language and Literature ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S MUSICALS Diploma Thesis Brno 2009 Radka Adamová Supervisor: Mgr. Lucie Podroužková, PhD. 1 BIBLIOGRAPHICAL ENTRY Adamová, Radka. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Musicals Brno: Masaryk University, Faculty of Education, Department of English Language and Literature, 2007. Diploma thesis supervisor Mgr. Lucie Podroužková, Ph. D. ANNOTATION This diploma thesis deals with British musical composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and his works. The first part of the thesis introduces Lloyd Webber’s biography, his close collaborators as well as his production company the Really Useful Group and description of all his works. The main part of the thesis is aimed at his musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar , rather their origin and development, the main plot and their main characters that have many things in common. Both these musicals are based on topics from the Bible. The thesis also deals with the librettos and their translation into Czech. 2 I declare that I have worked on this thesis on my own and used only the sources listed in the Bibliography. -

Beck Center's Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat a Hueful
AXS ENTERTAINMENT / ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT / PERFORMING ARTS Beck Center's Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat a Hueful Holiday Hit December 4, 2010 12:37 PM MST Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Show Logo Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Rating: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat opened Friday at the Beck Center for the Arts to cheers, applause and two standing ovations. Running now through January 2, 2011, Beck’s commitment to family-friendly holiday entertainment is in full force, as Joseph… will delight the young crowd and prove a satisfying guilty pleasure for the adult sect, as well. The story follows the Bible’s Book of Genesis account of Joseph through the voice of an ever-present narrator. One of Jacob’s 12 sons, Joseph is Jacob’s favorite, which leads to jealousy among his siblings. It’s bad enough that Joseph has prophetic dreams of grandeur, but when Joseph gets the amazing gift of a beautiful, multi-colored coat from his father, the resentful brothers hatch a plan to sell him into slavery, telling their dad that he was killed. Joseph is then set on a path from slavery to greatness, along the way interacting with everyone from a rich master and his seductive wife, to a butler, a baker and eventually an Elvis-inspired Pharaoh. The music is brought to us by the well-known combo of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, also known for Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. There is a plethora of musical styles, and audiences will not be bored while being taken through 100 minutes (plus an intermission) of country, Elvis, Parisian, rap, calypso and Broadway power ballad. -
